Why Arsenal shouldn’t make a move for this unsettled Chelsea forward

Well I guess leaving for one of your rivals is acceptable these days. Not exactly the most unbelievable story, but this one could possibly ensue in the summer.

Daniel Sturridge, who has one year left on his current contract, is reportedly seeking a move away out of Chelsea, who continue their slump off and on the pitch.

The 22-year-old striker is apparently one of the unhappy ones at the Bridge, mainly because Andre Villas-Boas seems to prefer the £50 million flop as his top man, while the England Under-21 international is forced to play out wide and out of position.

Villas-Boas insists Sturridge isn’t ready to take the central role upfront, despite having scored 10 to Torres’ 4 goals this campaign from a wide position.

If leaving the club guarantees him a brighter future then he should leave the Premier League all together, despite reported interest from Arsenal.

A source taken from The Sun a few days ago read:

‘Daniel will be distraught if Chelsea finish outside the top four.

‘He’s desperate to prove himself at the highest level and that means he wants Champions League football, not Europa League.’

So should Arsenal make a move for the unsettled Chelsea forward? Personally, I don’t deem it necessary. Yes the youngster has talent, a clever head on his shoulders, is hard working and poses a threat to defenders, but we already have a handful of youth at the club. We don’t exactly need anymore coming in. If anything we have too much. It’s like we are forever in the rebuilding process and never have a ready-made team capable of being consistent. In all honesty, why try sign a player who may become unhappy here too? Would he be the central figure upfront and be chosen ahead of Robin van Persie? I highly doubt it.

Sturridge, like every other player these days, is seeking Champions League football. Something Arsenal themselves can’t promise next season.

If we keep buying very young talented players, we may never grow up. I’d prefer if we bought ready-made experienced players instead. I’m sure everyone would. It would give us a chance to rebuild properly. Mix the youth with the older players. Otherwise, at this rate, they will all retire practically at the same age.

There is no point in trying to sign Sturridge, as he would probably play out wide, grow restless and eventually leave for another club.

He’s proven that he can not only play but score in the EPL. He might not be able to oust RVP but he would certainly put Chamakh and Park in their place

I like the idea of Sturridge at Arsenal, and I also think he can be a starter. Along side RVP. Against Milan(ughh) Van Persie dropped back in the second half and Henry played up top. This filled the hole that has been vacant all season, the Fabregas/creative mid hole. Operating from there RVP still has the option to push when he needs to, but he would also be able to pick out a pass from deep. Let’s not forget that this is his preferred position.

I would like to see an RVP, Chamberlain-Hazard, Sturridge diamond take form with Wilshire backing them up. Sounds pretty exciting, and after this week, we could use something to look forward to.

We have too many are you mad? Apart from RVP who is going anyway we haven’t got a genuine goalscorer at the club. Sturridge is probably the best young striker in the country and would be a fantastic buy. If Chelsea said give them Walcott plus £10m I would snap their hands off.

He can be handy but the only thing I don’t like with him is he’s a bit selfish when is about passing the ball to a team mate that’s in good position to score . Apart for that’s a good player.
