Fjortoft reckons this German star could move to Arsenal in the summer

|

Bundesliga expert Jan Age Fjortoft believes Lukas Podolski will seal a summer move to Arsenal.

When asked by former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys on talkSPORT’s ‘Keys and Gray’ whether the 26-year-old German would leave Cologne and join Arsenal in the summer, the Sky Germany pundit said:

‘I think he will.

‘Everybody will say that he went to Munich and didn’t make a success there, but he was much younger then. But he’s 26 now and he’s played 95 times for his country.’

He added:

‘He will be a great player for any team in the world.

‘He’s got a fantastic left-foot and he may not be well-known in England, but when Arsenal are linked with him you know that Wenger would have seen him and he scores goals for fun.’

Fjortoft finished off by saying that he can see the striker move to Arsenal happening during the summer:

‘I can see it happening.’

It seems a move summer away from the RheinEnergieStadion is becoming increasingly likely for Podolski, as FC Koln recently fined the striker for openly stating that the Bundesliga club have failed to deliver promises that were made to him when he joined back in 2009.

The German international’s contract is set to expire in 2013 and will make a decision on whether he will extend his stay at FC Koln or leave his home-town club in the summer.

Well as I’ve stated in previous articles, I would love to see Podo join Arsenal this summer, regardless whether Van Persie signs a new deal or not. He would suit our style of play perfectly and is a potent striker who loves to score goals!

Hope we sign him, rated him since his first spell at Cologne. Could easily play him instead of Gervinho, AOC or Theo on the wing, or use him centrally when RvP needs resting.

I hope we sign him too, he is the type of quality player we need but along side RVP not in place of. gervinho & AOC wide with Arteta & Jack up the middle. We can do without Song he does not have that defence splitting pass we have been missing.Hopefully we shall also have a settled back four without the injuries that are able to build an understanding of each other & we can leave the defending to them when necessary. Lets have our exciting Arsenal back that have the opposition quaking in their boots once again.
