Arsenal, who were knocked out of the Carling Cup last week by Manchester City despite a brilliant performance, are still in the running for the Premier League title, UEFA Champions League and FA Cup this season.

The FA Cup looks the most likliest to bag, though Ivorian striker Gervinho is eager to win the remaining 3 competitions. Having won the French title with Lille last season, Gervinho is already setting his sights on winning silverware with Arsenal:

‘We’re going to try and win everything.

‘All of England expects Arsenal to win something and so do the fans. The league, the Champions League and the FA Cup. We can do it all.

‘Everything is possible. The most important thing is to win a trophy or two by the end of the season and that’s what I want.’

‘I really got a taste for winning titles at Lille.’

Arsenal’s title winning hopes will be dented by the absence of Gervinho, who will be away for a maximum of 3 weeks at the African Cup of Nations in January playing for Ivory Coast – a team Gervinho admits has striking similarities to that of Arsenal with the fact that both are blessed with talented players, yet both have experienced prolonged trophy droughts:

‘Ivory Coast is like Arsenal.’

He added:

‘We have not won a tournament since 1992 so that’s a number of years. We’ve got good players and it’s very similar to the situation at Arsenal.

‘Every time we approach a tournament, we say we are going to win and then we miss out.’

Arsenal bagging a trophy this season is doable, providing we keep up our brilliant run of form and lady luck smiles upon us. As for Gervinho leaving in January on international duty, I’m sure Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would be an excellent replacement for the then absent Ivorian.

Winning the Champions League will be a tough challenge. The Premier League crown isn’t out of our reach just yet, even though we have been written off already, but the FA Cup, in my opinion, is the one trophy Arsenal won’t have a problem getting their hands on this season, as Carling Cup performances revealed.

Yes we haven’t jumped that final hurdle and bagged an honour, one example is that error that cost us the Carling Cup last season, but with the experience currently at the club I dont think we will ever see such mistakes ensue again.

AOC will stake his claim in january, and gervinho, walcott and arshavin will have to compete for the other wing.AOC is clearly naturally better than the others…he lacks some big-match experience and defensive duties but he will get that in a month.
