Thank you Zenit!

It’s been confirmed that Zenit St. Petersburg are ready to make Arsenal an offer for out-of-form midfielder Andrey Arshavin in January. Thank you Zenit!

The deal, reported to be in the region of £13.7 million, would see Arshavin head back to the side who sold him to Arsenal in 2009 for a fee thought to be £15 million.

It is understood that Arsene Wenger would rather recoup some cash on the diminutive Russian, rather than losing him on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Zenit director Igor Korneyev recently confirmed their interest in Arshavin.

He told Russian tabloid Sovietsky Sport:

‘We are always interested in Arshavin. But I can neither confirm nor deny whether we have made an offer.’

I personally think now would be the right time to get rid of Arshavin. He is simply too inconsistent and looks out of sorts at the Emirates. Wenger is probably going to spend some money in the January transfer window, and the potential cash that we recoup, if we decide to let Arshavin go, would, I imagine, be made available to Wenger immediately.

Many Arsenal fans may call on Wenger to keep Arshavin, but I think with key players coming back from injury and others ahead of the Russian in the pecking order, now it would be the time to cut our losses and bring in fresh new faces in January.

13.7m ??? Take it and run.

I’ll pay for his journey there aswell.

Let’s be honest if we get that amount for him we will be laughing because the standard of his play merits a transfer fee of about 5 million and he not exactly young aswell.

    Let’s pray for this transfer!!!

Nothing would please me more if he goes. Arshavin used to be a fantastic player when he came to Arsenal but now a complete opposite. May be he is ‘home sick’ as Tavez used to be.

what u mean thank you zenit??? utter bollocks, arshavin is one of the few forward players in the squad who actually has talent, knows what to do, how to do it and tries to do it (argualbly this part hasnt been going very well for him). but it’s much better than gervinho who doesnt have a clue on what to do. (you cant teach that, u can only teach players how to control the ball, but once the ball is under control what happens next is up to the player). if the boss didnt waste time with gervinho, arshavin could easily have racked up 10goals + 10 assists by now.
watch how all u arshavin haters will be praying for gervinho to leave by the end of the season

You are thinking back 18 months. Or you must be watching a different player. We are watching the one who usually loses the ball – then fails to chase back and help, muffs chances and makes very few assists. Since his first very good months with Arsenal he has completely lost it. Agreed with others – mainly due to being played out of position.

They are both sh@t , let park & Alex ox chamber’ have a go &/or a bit of class in the 20 million mark Could come in who can shoot none of these clowns can although arsh used to.

  • Youssef says:

I really don’t think that the russians would pay 13,7m£ for him. it’s too much especially because he’s out of contract at the end of the year.
any thing we can get from this selling opration is good.
Thanks Arshavin for everything you gave us !!!!!!
    Gooner 4 life !

    • chris from Cambridge says:

I fear you are right. But we will have to take what we can get. They sold him as a terrific player. we sell him as one who has lost it. Not that we can possibly blame the Manager for
continually playing him on the left wing !!

  • OnDGooner says:

He should have been sold last week!

  • GUNNERBLOOD says:

WE NEED PODOLSKI…RID ARSHIVAN I WILL PERSONALLY PACK HIS SHIT…TOMAS R. NEEDS TO GO TOO THINK ITS TIME TO BRING ALEX CHAM. ON MORE AND NEED A ASSIST MACHINE IN MIDDLE OF THE PARK AND A VERSATILE WINGBACK I THINK BRIDGE WOULD BE FINE COVER UNTIL FIND A MORE SECURE PLAYER IN THAT POSITION…DONT GET IT THIS IS PLAIN COMMON SENSE WE ALL SEE WHAT IS NEEDED BUT ARSE NEVER CATCHES ON UNTIL ONE OF HIS BARGIN PINCH PLAYERS HAS A GOOD GAME…WE NEED QUALITY PLAYERS AND FAST OUR COMPETITION IS GROWING AT A FASTER PACE WE NOW STAND IN THE TABLE BASED ON OUR TALENT AGAINST THE REST OF THE LEAGUE WE NEED TO UP THE ANTE!!! LOL…BRING BACK HENRY FOR G.S

Arshavin being played out of position dont have nothing to do with his performances. A horriffic cross, or shot, or first touch has nothing to do with your position. Sometimes errors like that will be ok if a player showed the effort. He dont do anything for the team. He dont defend or track back and to have to do that if your on the pitch. Its not fair if everyone else those because sll 3 front men track back and defend. What Arshavin is doing is actually being selfish because if he did put forward the effort he has great enough quality to be a mainstay on the pitch but since he dont do whatever it takes to help the team succeed then he needs to leave

  • sweeper says:

arshavin may not be his former self, but not playing him at all doesnt help his situation. more over maybe you guys havent been watching gervinho’s pathetic performances, thats the only reason i’d prefer it if we played arshavin rather than gervinho. he makes no attempt to win or protect the ball when he does have it. he’s absolutley useless on and off the ball. arshavin may loose the ball- trying to do something that puts wally, VP or ramsey through clear on goal, gervinho looses the ball doing absolutley nothing. if u want speed u got wally, if u want dribbling arshavin is a veteran, gervinho has fok all to bring to the team. i’d prefer to see ox on the wings if u guys have a problem with arshavin.

  • Wayne says:

I’d be happy with half that.

  • Anesh says:

What nonsense….agree that arshavin has lost it but Gervinho has been excellent…remember he is still adapting. I expect much more from this lad. I also believe that Arshavin can offer more, maybe from central midfield…the problem here is how long do we have to wait for him o regain that excellent form???
