Arsenal and Chelsea target Eduardo Vargas has agreed to join Napoli in January.
The 22-year-old Chilean forward, who is regarded as one of the hottest young prospects in world football today, will reportedly move to the Serie A side in a deal worth £11.5 million and link up with South American forwards Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi.
The Universidad de Chile forward recently told Chilean radio station Cooperativa:
‘Yes I will be joining Napoli, a large team in Italy.
‘I’m sure I’ll do very well there. I know Cavani and Lavezzi.
‘I am very happy that everything was tied up quickly, and for me to play in Italy is a dream come true.’
The reports were later backed up and confirmed by Universidad shareholder Carlos Heller, claiming the deal was agreed late last night.
Heller told the Chilean press:
‘It was very late last night when an agreement was made, but we are proud to reach it with the former club of Diego Maradona in Italy.
‘Eduardo joins a team with a great trophy cabinet. For him and the national team, it is outstanding.’
