Guinea-Bissau-born striker Ederzito has emerged as a potential summer transfer target for Arsenal, as the north London club look to add another forward to their squad.

The 23-year-old currently plays his football for Portuguese outfit Academica, but will be out of contract at the end of the season, thus becoming available on a free in the summer.

Arsene Wenger is fully aware of Ederzito’s situation and has reportedly sent chief scout Steve Rowley to monitor the 6’2’’ forward.

Porto are also thought to be interested in the soon to be 24-year-old and are likely to rival Arsenal for his signature come the end of the current season.

However, it remains uncertain whether Wenger will in fact sign a striker in the January window. A whole host of forwards have been linked with a move to the Emirates this winter already, including Arsenal great Thierry Henry, and with the future of Marouane Chamakh still in doubt, Arsene will certainly need to add a new front-man to their squad – whether this be in the upcoming month or at the end of the season.
