While I think most of us will agree that Arsenal are on the up, especially after our 5-3 win at Stamford Bridge, it is still evident that Arsene Wenger needs to add some fresh faces to the squad.
So, here are 3 players I think the Frenchman should consider signing this January:
Lukas Podolski
Don’t get me wrong, Van Persie has been amazing this year, but we all know how injury-prone he is and I’m sure Wenger doesn’t want to risk playing him in all 50 games this season, especially upfront on his own. So who do we have at the moment that can maintain our forward momentum should something happen to our captain? Well there’s Park, and I think we can all agree that he was under par against Marseille. He’s not a player that’s impressed me before and after his move to Arsenal. Then we’re left with Chamakh, a player who started his Arsenal career in fine form with regular goals, but since RVP’s comeback from injury in December 2010, the Moroccan has struggled to find form and looks like he’s lacking the stamina to stay in the Premier League. This is where Podolski comes in. Yesterday, German publication Bild reported that Arsenal were lining up a £20 million bid for the German international. A move that I’ve been saying we should make for the past three years or so. He reminds me of Van Persie with his amazing left foot and similar style of play, so maybe he’d be the perfect back up for our captain.
Mario Gotze
A few Arsenal fans I’ve spoken to feel that Gotze is overrated and that he was quite poor against The Gunners in the Champions League. But to me it’s obvious we won’t finish in the top four unless we sign the German starlet (or a player of the same calibre who plays the same position). I think this because our central midfield lacks magic, depth, or an attacking mentality. Arteta is capable of making world-class passes, but his natural position is deep midfield and the same goes for Wilshere. Who have we got who plays in the centre of midfield that has an attacking mentality? There’s Diaby (injury-prone), Rosicky (injury-prone) and Ramsey. Ramsey is a fantastic midfield, but it would be unfair, especially after returning from his long-term injury, to play him two or three times a week for the whole season. Put simply, Gotze would add another dimension to our game and would probably guide us to a cup and a top four finish.
Mathieu Debuchy
I never thought I’d say this but, we miss Eboue. We all know Sagna broke a bone in his leg at White Hart Lane and our backup for him is Carl Jenkinson, who was third choice right-back for League 1 side Charlton. It’s not often I say this but Wenger has made a mistake signing him as our second choice right-back. I think it’s VITAL for our season that we sign a new second choice right back as soon as the window opens. Debuchy was the first player that came to my mind. Not only does he have a winning mentality from his last season with Lille, but the 26-year-old would link up well with Gervinho.
I know these signings aren’t necessarily realistic, but they are definitely players we should consider in January.
I love this club whole heartily i wish it the best too. I pray that AW will observe that, this are what we need now at least two experience and a potential future talent, a striker & right back future mid fielder like Mario G. I pray the board will help us
Those who think Goetze is overrated are stupids.
Can’t ever see him paying £20m for Podolski and people are talking about £35m for Goetze so that is even less likely. Who I think we should get is Vertongen from Ajax, plays CB, LB and DM and could well start in any of those position for us, probably 10-12m but that would be a bargain. We clearly need another striker but who is good enough and who falls into the bracket of money Wenger will spend I am not sure.

As for mf Gotze wld b great , however at 20-21 Ganso from Sao Paulo for similar money is true class & a different class already in the brazilian national team & also the source & provider for Naymar & scores quite a few himself & is very skilful! Check him out on youtube!

We only need strikers or two – Podolski is a great choice. Wishere will be our new midfield signing and we have plenty of defenders at the moment. Ideally, we should offload Chamakh, Squillach, Diaby and Arshavin and replace them with Kalou and Harzad or Goetze.
A double-swop for Thiago Silva+Pato for £50m and Gotze for £20m ….ish! that’s on the high side

Shegs, Pato is hugely overrated, as for the pricing on Gotze, we’re looking at around 30-40m for him as the German president has described him as ‘the best talent to come out of Germany’. Thiago Silva would be ideal. COYG
umm, i think it would be great. but, arsenal wont pay that much. and for podolski, i think he is too expensive. better we buy kalou. for midfield we get esteban granero. it’s enough coz we have lansbury who played great in national team. and at defence, i agree to sign vertonghen. oh ya, maybe we can get fellaini for midfield? yeah, maybe..
