Arsene Wenger is lining up a shock move to sign Manchester City and ex-Arsenal defender Kolo Toure. The Ivory Coast international left Arsenal in 2009 for £14 million, but the defender has found himself out of the team since his six month ban following a failed drug’s test. It is reported that Manchester City have instigated a bid to deduct £1.5 million of Kolo Toure’s image rights to compensate for his failed drugs test.

If City are successful at the hearing, Toure has told close friends he will leave the club come January. For all the good stuff happening on the pitch, the same cannot be said for the antics off the pitch. Carlos Tevez is also currently having a dispute with City and will be looking for a way out in January.

According to the Daily Mail, it has been reported that Arsene Wenger is eager to solve his defensive crises by making a bold move to re-sign the 30-year-old defender. With Toure’s career turning for the worse, and not being a regular anymore, Wenger could decide to make a move for the unsettled defender in January.

Another club that has been monitoring Toure’s current situation is big-spenders Paris St Germain.

Toure told French radio station RMC Sport that he ‘would be interested because of the competition there currently is at City.’

He added:

‘If they [PSG] called me, I would listen to what they say. Given the very good players there are in Paris, it really makes you want to go there.’

‘I know I’m not the only player interested. There are other players who really want to play for PSG.’

‘Not just for the money, but also because there are very good investors there who want to move the club to produce good football and win trophies.’
