Does a future coaching role await this Arsenal legend after latest claim?

In what is possibly my favourite peace of news in the last 6 weeks, Arsenal Legend Thierry Henry recently stated he would be keen to remain in football after he hangs up his boots.

In a recent interview with Arsenal club magazine, the French striker was asked if he would remain in football after he finishes playing it, he said:

‘Would I become a coach? I don’t know.

‘When I see what happens to a lot of coaches. Some got a job for one month, two months, two days.

‘Then there is Arsene Wenger who is in his 15th year, and Alex Ferguson. Everyone knows I love football and living without it is difficult for me.

‘After my career, it is obvious I will remain around football, but how, in which job, for which club? I don’t know.’

In news that would surely lift any Arsenal fan like myself, the possibility of Henry returning to Arsenal in any role would be a dream come true, and I have long thought that he would one day return to the club, which I still hope fabricates.

Henry’s love for the north London club is almost as famous as the player himself, and he in my eyes is right up there with the likes of Dennis Bergkamp as players who you can only describe as Legends.

Henry commented about the club he loves and how he thinks they are doing at present:

‘I believe Arsenal are still playing good football. I became a Gunners’ fan for life. Something happened with the fans, which I could not forget.

‘It has not been easy for Arsene. Pat Vieira and I left and I agree it is a long transition. This season will be very important for the coach and the club.’

Complete honesty from Henry there which shows just how much he misses Arsenal and the fans. However, he is fully aware how much this season is going to mean for the club and is under no illusions that we must win something:

‘I want the team to have success and go forward. Either you say they didn’t win anything for six years or you try to go forward with that group.

‘I really hope we will bring back a trophy. But we must not forget what Arsene did for Arsenal. In football, it is easy to judge people at the time. But could we find a better solution? We don’t know.’

I for one have stood by Arsene Wenger this season, through thick and thin, and I’m glad I have done as I think he is an amazing manager. And those, who 6 weeks ago were calling for him to be sacked, should hang their heads in shame because he, in my opinion, is the only person currently who I would want to be in charge of our club.

Would I welcome Thierry Henry back at Arsenal as a coach? In a heartbeat. Could he become a potential successor for Arsene Wenger at some stage down the line? That I would worry about. Not because I think he doesn’t have the belief or the capabilities, it’s just when a player, who is a legend for a club, comes back to manage the side there is always that chance that it will tarnish the memories the fans have of him, and I would hate to see that happen to Henry.

I know the possibilities are still a few seasons away, but I honestly think he will come back to Arsenal as a coach when he calls time on his playing career.

Agree with every word you write about Thierry and Arsene.
Where would we be without them?
My only query is the tarnishing bit however.
No matter what happens Thierry will always be a legend, so come on down Thierry, the time is right.
