It appears that Arsenal are still able to attract players, Marseille winger Andre Ayew admitted, prior to the Arsenal’s game against the French club, that he would love the chance to one day play for Arsenal:

‘There is everything [at Arsenal]. The stadium, the players, the training ground, the budget and the image of the club that makes a lot of players dream.’

It certainly is a flattering way to put your name firmly in Arsene Wenger’s mind, although it is reported his contract does not expire until 2014 with Marseille.

Wenger is known to be a fan of the player, but to date has denied that he is going to make an approach for the Ghanaian. Although I’m sure Wednesday nights game will have given Wenger an opportunity to see the player in action, I think he may have been disappointed with his the performance in front of the Frenchman. However, I am sure he is very well scouted.

Marseille themselves are having a tough time of it this season as they current sit in 15th in the Ligue 1, having only won 1 of there opening 10 games. Andre Ayew has managed to score 4 goals, although 2 of them were in the Champions League. Ayew and Marseille were also looking at the game Wednesday night much the same as Arsenal in the way that they were hoping it would kick start their season.

Ayew said:

‘If we win, we will have to win just another game to ensure qualification. Our confidence can also grow. Arsenal is not in a great shape either, but it is a big club in Europe. I feel that we can do something, but Arsenal can hurt us.’

And if you have read any news coming out of Marseille since their defeat to us, you will have seen that they are definitely hurting after the late winner by Aaron Ramsey. Nicolas Nkoulou confirmed yesterday:

‘I’m still feeling the shock of the defeat. The scenario is very bad. We weren’t great but we weren’t terrible either. We paid the price for letting our attention slip once.’
