Is this Arsenal legend right to be ‘unimpressed’ with Wenger’s summer signings?

|

‘Two seasons ago [if we signed Mikel Arteta] I would have said great, I thought Arteta was a wonderful player who would have been perfect for Arsenal football club the way they play but since he’s been injured and he was injured for most of last season as well.’

‘We’ve bought Alex Oxlade-chamberlain in and please god the boy is going to be a wonderful player but it might be like Theo Walcott where it takes three or four years before he comes through and we can’t even find a centre-half at the moment and we’re spending £12 million and eventually up to £15 million.’

‘It just does not make any sense. Where is the planning going on here, we were supposed to be bringing youngsters through, hardly any of them are left now. When players realise that Arsenal aren’t going to go and buy players, real big superstars, they want to move.’

The former Arsenal man then predicted – should things not work out for the club in the upcoming months – that Robin van Persie would be next star out the door:

‘If it doesn’t work out in the first few months this year you can bet your boots [Robin] Van Persie will be the next one who wants to move.’

‘I think it’s going to be really, really tough this year for Arsenal. I don’t think Arsenal fans are going to be too kind this season as they’ve been for the last four or five seasons.’

‘I think they’ve just got a little bit fed up with all the promises and everything else that has been going on at Arsenal for the past six years and because of the expense of going to the club.’

It’s a lot to take in but, do you agree with McLintock, or is he just having a moan?

  • I think guys we need to be appreciative. We cried for signings. We got them. We thought we would get ‘Two, three’, we got nine. Why don’t we appreciate? Big money does not always mean big performances, otherwise, Torres [at Chelsea], Veron, Shevchenko, Crespo, Reyes, Berbatov, Arshavin, etc, have not been the best performers at their clubs, despite having arrived for significant fees! For me, Mertesacker, Gervinho, Arteta, Santos, Park, Benayoun are great signings and clearly a massive improvement from the likes of Bendtner, Eboue, Clichy and Denilson. Stop being cry-babies and get behind the team, we are much more equipped than last season, AND GOOD ENOUGH TO WIN THE LEAGUE.

Kiku, change your name to coockoo, this team will win nothing. The best you can hope for is that our better players stay because they don’t mind never winning anything with Arsenal.

Frank Spot On, as usual. The manu catastrophe finally got wenger/board off their arses, but it was panic buys all the way. Why do you think wenger wants goetze or hazard, he finally realizes that a top four place is very long odds.

AKBs and accountability, never shall the two meet.

Sorry arsenal1again &mic, but henry was well known b4 arsenal, he was voted best young player @d france 98 world cup (&not by AKB’s),a regular in a world cup winning squad scoring 3goals from the wings.yes he endured a torrid season @juve but we know ‘form is temporary but class permanent’.
Db10 was voted 3rd best player in the fifa footballer of the year award in 1994 so he had 2be well known b4 arsenal. i agree on sagna, vermaelen(though d capt of ajax fc shouldn’t be unknown) but that’s nothing special, fergie has delivered tons of talent, i’d say 2 to every of wengers 1,ronaldo dwarfs all. Moyes had rooney etc

  • which are made of geunine leather. These series of coach bags are very difficult to copy. So there are very little fake coach handbags made of leather. Once you saved up enough

Read this now, it’s a joke! Frank is clueless and this proves it, wishful thinking by another disloyal so called gooner, add Ian Wright and Alan Smith to the ranks of arsenal haters.
    EGG ON YOUR FACE FRANK!

9 out of ten wins does not suggest this is the worst arsenal team ever, Frank you were never in a team half as good as this one, GET REAL BUDDY!!

  • Mehti says:

I agree with the team not being entirely stueid to the rigours of the Prem. In recent years his policy of having smaller, more technical players hasn’t quite worked out. And why should it? The Premiership is not La Liga, and I doubt Barcalona would be so consistently brilliant in our league as they are in theirs week in, week out. For every small technical player we have in the side, we should perhaps have a stronger, more physical player to compliment them. I just think Wenger never quite got the balance right. Our squad ended up too small’, or lacking in physical presence in recent seasons.
