How low can we go?

I know I’m venting, but it’s just how I feel today.

Another game, where at half time, even though it was only 2-1, it felt like it was in the bag. We were confidently knocking the ball about, had Blackburn chasing shadows and apart from one blip, all was looking good.

Then…we came out second half and it was like we didn’t know each other. Sloppy passing, poor defending, we let Blackburn back in and paid the ultimate price.

At one stage we were playing ourselves into trouble. Passing the ball around the back four, with ever increasing risk. No one coming short from midfield for the ball and finally a last option pass back to Shezza, who had to hoof it hopefully up field. So not the Arsenal way!!!

What has happened to the Arsenal we all love and believe in?

The fluidity has been replaced with fragility.

The confidence has been replaced with concern.

The expressiveness replaced with exasperation.

New faces, same old problems, extending from the end of last season. It must fester in the physio room and get passed on when the players inevitably get injured.

The defence just don’t seem to want to talk anymore. I mean this is Arsenal, we are bloody famous for our defence, and it’s appeared in films. Adams and co. must be turning in their footballing graves when they see our current attempts at the offside trap!!! And bloody zonal marking, we all know that doesn’t work.

Dennis and Henry must be beside themselves when they see the strikers not playing the obvious pass when it’s on, or even worse, trying to play a pass when it blatantly isn’t there and losing possession in front of goal.

Also, Robin wears number 10. He wants to play as number 10 because he is a number 10, so why do we insist on playing him as a lone striker? Every time he drops deep into the hole behind an out and out striker, he seems to relax and play his natural game.

I don’t want to panic, but how low can we go? Once the confidence goes, it isn’t going to come back quickly.

The team need to remember that:

1. We have qualified for the last 15 Champions League campaigns.

2. We were ‘The Invincibles’.

3. We have never been relegated.

Our inconsistency is staggering. Come January we well could be in a relegation battle and that’s not going to be appetising to the likes of M’Villa, Martin and Hazard. However, the way it goes for Arsenal, we will probably win the Champions League this season!!!

Here’s hoping that some of the fringe players, Oxlade, Park, Miyaichi, show the first-team squad how to do it on Tuesday, and then get a chance in the important competitions.

Rant over.

no-one believes in wenger anymore. cesc respects what he did for him and so he should but his opinion of his management expertise surely can’t be that good. He lost faith in him after 6 barren seasons and realised it wasnt going to improve. By leaving he has made the situation worse, ironically, and his disatisfaction with the “arsenal way” is now being felt by others like RVP.
We are sliding downwards, and i believe it will get worse until wenger leaves or is sacked.Either way it will take another run of defeats or a few humiliating losses like the old trafford slaughter.

If wenger and the board don’t repent @this pt. I wonder when they will.
