Should Arsenal sell this man for £22M?

Mr Monopoly guy, or as the British press know him as, Roberto Mancini, is set to put in a new offer for Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri, who has rejected a new contract extension at the Emirates.

So far Arsenal have rejected any approaches for their French star in hope that he signs a new deal at the north London club before his contract expires (next summer), but run the risk of losing him on a free if he fails to compromise.

As much as I would hate to see the 24-year-old, does it make good business sense to lose him for free at the end of the season? No. Could we effectively use the proposed £22 million to buy a new player to replace Nasri? Yes.

If someone at the Emirates could guarantee that, if we did sell Samir Nasri and would buy Chris Samba, then I would say go for it. However, without the assurances that we would replace him with a player that would benefit the side, then I myself would be very disappointed if reluctant Arsenal sell the France international.

I don’t want the Gunners to lose Nasri for free next summer, and I think that would be the worst thing that could possibly happen in this difficult situation.

With the possibilities of losing Cesc Fabregas for around £36 million within the week, we need to decide what we are going to do.

It has been widely reported that we have already lost out on the chance to sign Valencia’s Juan Mata for a cheaper amount, and could now be forced to pay £22 million for his services, as the clause in his contract has reportedly expired.

Should Arsenal take £22 million for Nasri? In all honesty, as much as it pains me to say it, yes we should.

Losing him for nothing next season just does not make sense to me. However, if we were to sell Nasri, then we would need to use the money straightaway and replace him with a quality centre-back.

if nasri wants to go, so why keeping him? sell and replace him with another star

  • sam says:

the best thing is to sell him now rather than loose him for free next season. Ask uaselves this. What if he gets injured the whole season or play few matches like cesc did this year? we would have paid him a years salary and let him go for free. I think the league is more physical this year and we are not guaranteed that he will be fit for the whole season. Anyway he also faded in the second part of the season so we cant expect him to deliver that much. 22million pounds for a season is not that bad a business.

Sell him, we have Gervinho, Vela, Gibbs and Arshavin for left wing. Also sell Fabregas… we need the money and a new captain…

Out: Nasri, Fabregas, Chamakh, Djourou, Squillaci

In: Samba, Sakho, Papiss Cisse, Fellaini, Javi Martinez and Chamberlain

Totally disagree… if Samir is happy to stay for the season then it is a “no brainer” that we keep him. It is amazing how so many Arsenal fans abuse Arsene for not spending money and then seem to spit feathers when he is talking about keeping someone and losing £20 million. We, in fact, do not “lose” £20 million – we just don;t receive it. Does it make sense to get £20 million and then rush to replace him with the wrong player that will cost us something in the same region or does it make sense to keep Samir and look for a cheaper replacement and get them in in January and give them time to settle in the team ready for when Samir leaves next summer? For me the 2nd option makes much more sense – and you never know in that time he may sign a contract.
I do however slightly agree that £22 million for a player that has only had one good half season is very tempting.

Arsenal have invested heavily in Nasri – making him the player he is today. The best thing is to keep him. How? Match the wages City have promised him and bring in Cahill, Samba and Mata to show our determination to win. Can Arsenal afford it? YES!

Are u out of ya fuckin mind? Nasri stays and goes for free? Fuck. he may be in for a season and get injured most of it like cesc. Then he leaves for free considering we have paid him a seasons salaryand treated his injury. He either signs or be sold Point Blank PERIOD. If his wishes are met we will be creating a culture where people will start holding the club at Ransom for their demands. We dont have oil mines like chelski and manetihads. A club structure is there for organization of the club.

  • Martin says:

Just sell him for12 and take micha Richards as. Part of the deal . He is big strong and quick and an arsenal fan.

  • clef says:

With less than one year on his contract, SELL HIM.
Nasri wont sign a new contract, SELL HIM.
If Arsen Wenger makes Nasri see out his contract, we would loose the transfer fee, 4 years wages to Nasri plus 22 million being offered now. IT MAKES NO SENSE TO KEEP NASRI. ARSEN WENGER IS ALWAYS GOING ON ABOUT STICKING TO A TIGHT BUDGET.IF NASRI STAYS THEN THIS TIGHT BUDGET IS A GREAT BIG LIE. TO BE FRANK, NASRI HAS ONE GOOD GAME FIVE, THATS IT. SELL HIM AND TAKE THE MONEY AND BUY ANOTHER PLAYER OR TWO OR THREE, SIMPLE.

    • brad says:

Mostly agree with you but Nasri has far more than one good game, when Cesc aint in the team Nasri shines in that role, other than the I agree…..

      SELL HIM!!!
