Andrey Arshavin is being targeted by Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, according to talkSPORT.

The Russian Premier League outfit, who were recently taken over by billionaire Suleyman Kerimov earlier this year, have already added Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos to their squad and appear to be weighing up a possible move for the out-of-favour Arsenal forward this summer.

Sources in Russia claim that Anzhi are preparing a £15 million bid for the 30-year-old, whose contract runs out next summer.

Arshavin, who has attracted interest from former club Zenit and newly Galatasary this summer, managed to bag 10 goals and 18 assists in 54 appearances for the Gunners last season.

Despite his age and form last season, I still believe that the diminutive Russian has a part to play in the upcoming season for Arsenal.

He has already set himself an individual target this season (to bag 15 goals) and recently stated that he wants to stay at Arsenal and help them end their trophy drought, which is great to hear.

Arshavin may not be everyone’s favourite player, but not many can deny his ability and the quality he brings to the side.

I for one hope that he remains a Gunner and proves his critics wrong this season.

I do like Arshavin and what ever people say about his work rate he does chip in with the assists and I feel he is a very under-valued player. However 15m for a 30 year old is not bad business and afterall, we are a business, not a football team.

    15 mill ?

    take it and runnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
arshavin seems to have lost it this days
last season not up to it
the start of this season on the frendlies he look the same…with gervinho and ryo in he will be
    3rd choise

with 15 might aswell add a few more mill and get mata.

15 will be worth it considering his 30 and is the last year of his contract.

dont think ryo geting a work permit bud and gervinho not yet tested in the prem ……….but why has wenger let him slip to one year left on his contract

Arshavin still has effective attacking moments but there will too often be little other contribution in the match. If he recaptured the form of his first half-season with us then he would be a starter for any club, but I don’t think he will unfortunately. I did like the way he seemed keen to stick his foot in and commit to tackles in his last couple of appearances last season however. I might be dreaming, but if we can hold on to Cesc & Nasri and replace Arshavin with the more consistent Mata, I would say we were making a big improvement.

Arshavin should be retained @ arsenal because he is willing to stay and contribute to the team. I think he should be given at least one more season.
Nasri should be the first to go since he wants to go and is unhappy with the increment.
As for Cesc, it will really depend on what he wants.

I guess he ain’t gonna leave Arsenal. Also, if he’ll join Anzhi, he can forget about normal life in Russia due to Zenit’s supporters.

We can sell Fabregas and Nasri if they want, but Arshavin should stay because he wants to play for Arsenal. He is still quite good and experienced player.
