I hate being negative but…

Arsenal vs Newcastle

Injuries & (probable) departures taken into account, at present, I’d say we are bang in trouble for Saturday unless some miraculous transfers take place in the next 3 days.

With Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny, Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Abou Diaby, Robin van Persie, Theo Walcott, Andrey Arshavin all injured, and Samir Nasri & Cesc Fabregas looking highly to depart before the new season kicks off, Saturday’s line-up could look like this:

Szczesny

Sagna     Djojo     Squill     Traore

Song     Frimpong     Rosicky

Vela          Chams     Gervs

This would leave the likes of Carl Jenkinson, Ryo Miyaichi & Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain getting their first taste of Premier League action from the bench!!

I hate being negative but…it doesn’t look good.

haha lol wat is that starting XI? It looks like a relegation threatened side…

  • zdzis says:

@robz: Oh really? Curious idea… most of these players have featured in the previous season, sometimes playing the same games, how come arsenal are still in the EPL? a most curious phenomenon…
@author: the latest injury news bulletin at arsenal.com suggests that Koscielny, Walcott, Nasri and Wilshere could all be back for the first league game. RVP is a question mark, Fabregas is ready. Gibbs, as far as I can tell, is also supposed to be ready for the game. I don’t know about Ramsey and Arshavin, though. As for Vermaelen, there was no official statement from the club. The only one I could find dates from this tuesday and features a quote from TV5: “We have worked hard and I feel we are ready for it because the fitness is good in the team and we feel good.” That doesn’t sound like he’s injured. Anyway, the game’s still two days away, so the lineup could just as well look like that:
Szczesny – Sagna, Koscielny (Djourou), Vermaelen, Gibbs (Traore) – Song – Wilshere, Fabregas (Nasri/Chamberlain?) – Walcott, Chamakh, Gervinho
I seriously think this injury scare is just more sensationalism. If you don’t know what’s really going on, don’t scare other people with more empty speculation.

zdzis, that alternate universe your living in must be loads of fun. IF, and yes it’s an if, Udinese knock us out CL which top player will come to us? Wenger has left it very late once again. The squad is extremely unsettled and the season is days away.

You are a mug. Wenger apologist till the end I reckon. Your the type of goon that allows Wenger the security to not do his job properly. But hey look at that Glorious balance sheet huh, AKB tosser. The standard for this club is always top four. Not being relegated isn’t a success!!

    i belive what you hear

walcott was ready even last week but arsenal didnt wanna take him to benfica he will be ready

v perise and vermilen arsenal just didnt want him to play for holland he should be okay

wilshare most probley will be okay
arshavin got a head injoury not really something that will keep him out

i expect all of them to play on the weekend
its moore wenger just didnt want to let his players go on internation dute in mid week

the only ones that might not be his gibbs, diaby
    the rest will start

    @dan

What alternative Universe are you from? Wenger has not left it late. Wenger does not deal with transfers. Gazidis does though. The acquisitions we need can’t bought without the sale of players.

@Author Chamberlain, Miyaichi and Jenkinson are not bench warmers.

  • zdzis says:

@dan & kc: nice to hear some constructive critique. Feels so refreshing! Name-calling apparently is the standard with you guys. Just don’t mistake stupidity with creativity, though I see you get the words mixed up all the time.

Team shown is worst case scenario, more worried about Tuesday night to be perfectly honest, as regards Ryo, Jenkinson & Oxlade, expect them to come through but start the season as subs.
Naregas monies need to be reinvest this transfer window!!

  • TheSundayMorningGooner says:

Nasregas monies need to be reinvested this transfer window!!!

  • dan says:

Arsenal0, some argument there mate, it’s not late eh, everything is going according to plan then? It’s gazidis, no it’s wenger, no it’s gazidis, your confused mate, let me help – they work in the same club and together have cocked it all up under the care and oversight of our board.

zdzis, you make about as much sense as your name. fans like you two hurt the club more than wenger, catch the next bus with him.
