It’s been reported that Arsenal made an approach for FC Sochaux midfielder Kevin Anin.

It is thought that the 25-year-old Frenchman is desperate to quit the Ligue 1 outfit, so much so that Anin failed to turn up for training last week, which increased speculation that he was set for a move away from the Stade Auguste Bonal.

Anin has now admitted that there has been contact with the Gunners over a possible summer move, but the 6’2’’ former Le Havre youth product says talks between the two clubs have failed to reach an advanced stage.

The Frenchman told L’Equipe:

‘There was an enquiry [from Arsenal], it went away and in the end there was nothing concrete.’

The holding midfielder had a trial at Spurs in 2009, where he impressed. However, instead of joining the north London club, Anin opted for top-flight French football with Sochaux before moving to England.

Arsene Wenger is understood to be in the market for a midfielder this summer following the departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, and Anin is believed to be on the Frenchman’s radar.

Wenger has also expressed interest in Yann M’Vila, Lucho Gonzalez and Real Madrid’s Kaka, but nothing has yet transpired.

Let’s hope something occurs in the next 5 days.
