‘It would be nice to go back to Arsenal’

Well lets be honest, Arsenal have been linked with just about every defender going during the transfer window so it was only a matter of time before this certain rumour circulated.

Former Arsenal defender Sol Campbell has announced that he would love a third return to the Emirates in order to help Arsenal out of a defensive tight spot that we are currently in.

A few days ago, Campbell stated:

‘It would be nice to go back to Arsenal, for sure.’

‘I trained there for a month [after leaving Newcastle in May] and have been doing regular fitness work on my own since.’

Having read this my head was in my hands, but I am 95% certain that this is just the media pulling names out of the hat, as Campbell is now 36-years-old and, let’s be honest, we can do a lot better than him.

I think the only way that Arsenal will consider giving Sol Campbell a third return to Arsenal is if we fail to bring anybody in. Thankfully, Per Mertesacker could be on his way to the Emirates, according to Sky Sports.

The fans would wonder what the hell is going on if we re-signed Sol Campbell, and I wouldn’t blame any of them. We need some big-name signings and have less than 36 hours to complete as many signings as possible, so we should be focused on that rather than looking at a player that is well past it.

Campbell may be past it as a footballer but he could be a good addition as a player/coach primarily performing the latter role. He may help to bring back a certain level of organisation and desire in the team and shore up our leaky defense. He knows all about winning titles and will bring a wealth of experience with him.

I would welcome Campbell any day of the week. He would definitely bring something to the team even if he doesn’t play a minute… and if he did… I trust him.. and I’m sure it would be rare.

I think he would bring something to the squad your right however only as a coaching role. I just feel it would be a step back to bring Sol in as a player.

i agree he could help koscienly as he is a player that can improve. I like sol, but he is off the premier leaguie pace that is for sure
