The Gunners are preparing to offer Arsenal starlet Kyle Bartley a new contract and find the youngster a top flight club for him to join on loan this season.

The 20-year-old centre-back returned from his successful loan spell last season at Rangers and was raring to kick start his Arsenal career this year. However, despite impressing in Scotland and previously gathering first-team experience at Sheffield United, it seems as if Arsene Wenger will seek yet another loan move for Bartley.

The 6’3’’ defender recently stated that he is prepared to stay at the Emirates and fight for a first-team berth this season, but this looks highly unlikely to ensue for the youngster.

Despite this, Wenger sees potential in Bartley and is keen to tie him down to a new deal.

It is believed that if Bartley does go out on loan again, then it will be to a Premier League club.

In my opinion, if he can’t cement a first-team at Arsenal – which does look unlikely at present – then a temporary move away to another Premier League outfit is his next best option.

If Bartley can acquire experience in the top flight of English football this season, and adapt to the pace and combativeness of it, then hopefully the following season he will be ready to challenge for a place at Arsenal.

Of course, continuous loan moves do have their flaws – just look at what happened to Jay Emmanuel-Thomas recently. Hopefully, this doesn’t happen to Kyle, as he has great potential and future ahead of him.

Offer him to Bolton for a season-long loan deal as part of getting Cahill (26 years old). Alternatively, use him similarly to Blackburn to get Samba (27 years old). I´m not a fan of buying 29 year old players as they have no resale value and typically have 3 years less playing time compared to a 26 year old.
Statistically, the best age to buy players are when they are in their early 20s. Younger than that, you pay for potential, older players (28+), you pay for past achievements. Someone 21-24 would be ideal.
