Is this Gunner a goner?

The Daily Mirror recently reported that Arsenal misfit Emmanuel Eboue is being targeted by Turkish giants Galatasaray.

The 28-year-old right-back, who started just 8 Premier League games last season for the Gunners, didn’t manage to board the plane to the clubs tour of Asia last week – along with outcasts Nicklas Bendtner and Manuel Almunia – because he was reportedly injured.

The Turkish outfit are now believed to be closing in on the Ivory Coast international, and with the recent capture of youngster Carl Jenkinson, who participated in both of Arsenal’s pre-season games in Asia, Eboue’s future at the Emirates looks very bleak at present.

So, is it the end of the road for Eboue at Arsenal? You have to think so.

Whilst Bacary Sagna will undoubtedly be a first-team regular this season, I think Carl Jenkinson has the mobility and technique to overtake Eboue in the pecking order.

Whether Arsene Wenger has other plans for the Ivorian – who can play at right wing and has been deployed as a central midfielder in the past – remains to be seen.

Although he brings life to the club and keeps team morale and spirits high with his jovial antics, I personally believe that his time at Arsenal is up.

If we can bag around £5 million for his sale, then that would be great.

At the end of the season we all listed our “deadwood” Almunia, Fabianski, Eboue, Diaby, Bendtner, Denilson, Squillaci, Clichy, Randall, Hoyte, Eastmond, Rosicky of those 12 sure some were injured but only 3 made the plane to Asia and one of those has already been confirmed as going to Brazil for a season. I think the writing is on the wall for all these players, although Fabianski and Rosicky may be spared.

Did you think Arsene Wenger would clear out half the squad? After labeling them deadwood, what do you expect from those who remain for next season? Is it hard for you to see that you play a big role in killing their spirit and confidence? Its people like you who should be frozen out from commenting on these blogs!IDIOT!!!!

eboue, denilson, bendtner, almunia, rosicky, squillaci all need to go

I don’t want him ti leave, I believe he lives and breaths Arsenal FC, and would play in goal if he was asked to, but I guess he is taking up space for someone else.

I wish him all the best if he does move on.

he seems a great bloke!…..but we need to be ruthless and he should go..no place for sentiment. perhaps squillacci and others will follow him out the door.
    GOOD LUCK EMMANUEL

I love his versatility, the way he came back after being hissed off the field three years ago, his spirit. Sometime you need guys like this who add to the team with his spirit, and chemistry

cant see arsenal being the same without eboue… he is one of the most loyal players, and in a time like this the club needs loyalty, thats wat wins u trophies, plus his vesatlity is always a useful tool in wengers tactics… he makes mistakes but he also win alot for the club

Great guy, and could have been a great player. I think he had a great first season, but sagna’s signing effectively “killed” him, and he never really improved as an attacking fullback.
The main thing he brings to the squad is that he is still the most *effective* player in the squad at beating players with his pace and dribbling. He has on occasion destroyed some of the lesser teams with these skills at times when we looked out of ideas. No one else could do that as well as eboue. Gervinho, however, brings that and he’s a much more gifted, natural attacker.
Still, given that he is a fullback, the question is: should we be happy that a 28 year old with tonnes of experience at all levels may be replaced with a (albeit talented looking) 19 year old with almost no experience whatsoever?

Eboue is a GREAT squad player. Great man and has neva complained about being a squad plaer so why soo many fans on his back.. ? :S get a life.. only N52 needs 2 go QUICKLY.

I love eboue also, but it’s not true that he *never* complained. A couple of seasons ago he was talking about leaving due to lack of opportunities. He seemed to change his tune soon after, though.
