Ex-Gunner Ray Parlour reckons Cesc Fabregas will not sulk if his move to Barcelona does not take place this summer.

The Spanish giants have already had two bids of £27 million and £30 million turned down by Arsene Wenger, as the Frenchman tries to keep hold of his midfield maestro for at least another season.

Before the start of Arsenal’s tour of Asia, Wenger reiterated his desire to hold on to the 24-year-olds services, claiming he will fight tooth and nail to keep him at the Emirates.

Parlour, who won three Premier League titles under Wenger, recently told talkSPORT that, should the Spaniard remain in north London, he won’t sulk and will fully focus on the challenges that lay ahead this season:

‘If Fabregas does stay, he’ll put all that behind him and say ‘let’s have a go again this season’.

‘He’s not going to sulk. Every time he goes out on that pitch he’ll give everything and, if he does stay, he’ll be a massive asset for Arsenal next season.’

He goes on to say:

‘I think Cesc Fabregas has enjoyed living in London, I think the set-up at Arsenal, the training ground, the way Arsene Wenger goes out and does training every day is enjoyable. Maybe he’s a little frustrated about not winning anything for five or six years. But a couple of signings and they would have gone really close last year.’

I believe Parlour is only stating the blinking obvious here. However, I believe that Fabregas will still have his mind on Barca if a summer move does not transpire.

Towards the end of last season, I don’t think his head was in the right place and his body language was all wrong – his ‘accidental’ back-heel to Iniesta, which gifted Barca a goal at the Camp Nou in the Champions League, pretty much summed it up for me.

I have no doubt that he will perform to the best of his ability IF he remains a Gunner, purely because he is a professional. However, will he care as much as he once did for the club if his ‘dream’ move does not come to pass? I’m not 100% convinced. Only time will tell.

then what has changed this year …. do you think its justifiable with no good signings this season too, that doesnt make sense. if he is really that good then he must leave for better club …. this club is going no where …. forget about getting even 4th place next season .

@ Phutse… U obviously aren’t truly a Gunner. Go join our noisy neighbours, Chelski or worse still Cuntenham Cuntspurs. Keep d faith or better shut up. Up The Arsenal, with or without Cesc/Nasri.

Blah Blah – doom and gloom. If you were a real fan you would support the club fully and cheer your heart out at every game regardless of who is on the pitch. You damn fair-weather supporters are everywhere.

Myaichi, gervinho, jenkinson, toral, bellerin are not good value signings? and “new signings” based on not playing much last year Vermaelen, Ramsey, Gibbs, Traore, Frimpong, Fabianski. Wake up or shut up. There is no midfielder in the world for any price that is guaranteed to be as good as ramsey is and will be for us. There is no defender in the world who I’d rather than Vermaelen.

Go back to playing FIFA for yourself because you obviously have no idea what Arsenal are really about at all. Who was our best player last season, how old is he and how much did we pay for him? 19 and not one penny. Who were the most successful signings for other clubs last season, chicharito and van der vaart, how much did they cost their respective clubs? 7 million and 9 million. Who were the most expensive signings last year and how well did they do? Torres for 50 million has been worth only 2 or 3 goals for chelsea, balotelli is a prima donna that will go the same way as tevez.
