Arsenal set to seal £5M deal for this FC Copenhagen starlet

Arsene Wenger is set to press ahead with his currently transfer policy and land FC Copenhagen centre-back Mathias Jorgensen in a £5 million deal. The move will end speculation that Wenger has been eyeing up a big-money move for either Blackburn’s Christopher Samba or Bolton’s Gary Cahill.

Jorgensen has become a stalwart of Copenhagen’s team, during a successful spell for the club. The Danish giants won their third league in succession this year by a staggering 26 points from second-placed Odense, conceding only 29 goals in 33 games.

The 6’3” defender has been earning praise across Europe for his powerful, reliable displays. If the deal is completed, Gunners fans can expect Jorgensen to partner Belgian Thomas Vermaelan who recently returned from a lengthy injury. This would give Arsenal a solid platform in front of Wojciech Szczesny.

Rumour has been rife that Wenger was set to depart from his philosophy of purchasing lesser known players on the cheap, and splashing the cash to buy a reliable centre-back with Premiership experience. It seems this was all just talk, as Jorgensen is someone who Wenger has apparently been watching for a while.

Wenger mentioned this week that Vermaelen may be deployed as a left-back if and when it is required of him, so this would seem to put Jorgensen in the driving seat to become the club’s most important defender. At 21 years of age, this would put a lot of pressure on him, but if the early part of his career is anything to go by, Jorgensen will rise above and beyond that challenge with ease.

Total rubbish! Why even write this stuff? We are sick and tired of hearing rumours that are made up, but all these speculation sites on the odd occasion that you get a piece of reliable info that arsenal are trying to keep quiet then you make other clubs aware and we lose out. I am convinced this is what happened with joel cambell. So to sum up, you are helping no one with this lame attempt at journalism.

I dont believe it was this site that may have cost us ampbell is reality I could have easily been his family who contacted Utd we will never know. He has decided aganist coming to Arsenal and thats his choice he looks a good player but it wasnt to be.

A club should ensure no one gets hold of any information until the deal is done example Spurs signing souleymane coulibay.

If you dont like the site dont read it many other sites are spinning transfer gossip. I like the look of this guy he looks like a tough centre half which is what we need.

John, I dont think you are right suggesting that a blog cost arsenal signing a player! if a journo can get hold of a story about who arsenal are watching, what makes it for clubs willing to spend more than arsenal fail to also follow our scouting or even papers that publish an potential goings on….am sure no blogger flies around to find out who arsenal are about to sign…but i wouldnt be surprised if other clubs invest in individuals to sniff where arsenal scouts would have sniffed….where do u suppose bloggers get their infor from….???

Would definetly choose Samba or Cahill over Jørgensen. He is a good talent but too young and unexperienced too be a reliable centre half for us. Followed some of Copenhagen`s matches last year, look at this on for example, Carling Cup final all over again. thats Jørgensen making an own goal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt3BznEW_3M

crap replies again, if the post turns out to be true then it could be a very good signing much better then the inaffective slow and overated cahill and samba.
though i personnally think this report is not worth the time it took to write it,especially when you look at bartley and miguel, comming through and koncielny, and djourou still very bright prospects, why waste money buying a defender? why not spend money on a defencive coach who will teach the players better defending, and tactics, once again i say if i was wenger i’d get graham in 2 or 3 days aweek to work with the defenders and midfielders.
