Will the imminent arrival of this man be enough to convince Nasri to stay?

With the imminent arrival of Gervinho in a matter of days, a rush of transfers could soon follow at the Emirates. However, if it doesn’t, will the arrival of the Ivorian striker be enough to keep Samir Nasri at the club?

The 23-year-old Frenchman stated a few weeks ago that he wants Arsenal to sign players in order for him to sign a new contract at the club. Nasri hasn’t really indicated on whether they should be experienced or not, or how many players we should sign, but his message is a very clear one to Arsene Wenger.

Personally, I don’t think Gervinho will be enough to keep Nasri. I feel that he wants Wenger to get rid of the deadwood and acquire very decent players to play around him next season. I also think that the France international wants the Gunners to show him that they have some ambition…and to be honest, I don’t blame him.

I think a lot of Arsenal fans have become very, very frustrated with Wenger failing to sign anyone with any experience in the last few years. For example, when he signed our first summer signing, Carl Jenkinson, many fans moaned that he obtained yet another youngster, and have already written him off before he’s even kicked a ball.

However, we do need to be bold in the transfer market, and Wenger needs to open that chequebook and spend some cash.

I believe signing Samba still won’t be enough to convince Nasri to stay. I only believe the French midfielder will only be happy when Wenger signs a big-name player, who this is, I have no idea.

There have been countless amounts of names already being linked to the club, and it makes me think, why haven’t we bothered making a big bid for anyone yet? Why are the players saying they don’t want to come here?

I know we haven’t won anything for six-years, but we need players who want to play for the club. We need players with ambition and the drive to win things.

I don’t blame Nasri for wanting to see Arsenal’s intentions in the market before committing his long-term future to the club. Personally, I just hope we do sign big players, and when we do (being optimistic here), that Nasri repays Wenger back by playing his heart out for the club and helps break this ridiculous trophy drought next season.

I really do hope that this whole mess is over with before August.

Cant Wenger bloody sign a very strong striker like benzema..been listening to rumours. let him sign a world class striker like benzema or falcao..

  • bc says:

David Villa could be the answer. Barcelona could offer him in a swap deal for Cesc. He could play on the left of a front 3 with Nasri taking over from Cesc. The other big names that would get Nasri excited are Schneider, Eto’o, Benzema(his pal) If Neymar joins Real then Benzema could become available RVP could then switch to the right with Gervinho on the left.

To be honest, i really dont know what all the fuss is about with Nasri. One half of a good season sounds very Flamini/Adebayorish. If he wants to hold us to ransom and flutter his eyelashes like a fat tart to any punter with more money, i say get rid. First though, sign him up to increase his value, then bench him. Cos if we bring in top players like he wants, i am afraid he will be the one to miss out.

I would love us to approach Inter with a swap deal Cesc and Nasri for Eto and Schneider. F*cking off players that dont want to play for us and pissing off Barca and Man United in the process.

    • IvoryGoonz says:

If you are trying to sell Cesc to Barca in the next transfer window, how much less you’d get if you let Nasri overplay him for the whole season? You really think a player of Nasri’s calibre just stops performing without reason just when Cesc is back to fitness after the world cup break? Get real… There are things in football you need to learn. Finally, Eto’o or Villa at Arsenal? You’re kidding yourself. We can only pay 110k/wk for our captain, you think we can afford Eto’o’s 185k/wk or Villa’s 200?

  • Rasenal says:

Pls mr arsenal sign a world class player, player like Benzima Eto’o nd Falcao.

  • David says:

I do not know what is happening at Arsenal. There were promises of big and busy spendings in this transfer window but as yet nothing. I think Arsenal needs someone like David Dein as he works quite well with Wenger and know the ropes in securing players. They need to get rid of the dead wood such as Allumia, Denilson, Bendtner, Squillaci quickly. Get whatever they can get and move on. They need several players – Samba, Cahill, Sakho, Hazard, Benzema, Chamberlain, pay them whatever they want and forget the money spent. Arsenal will loose out and then Wenger will say we were offered this person and that person but we did not buy them. Season will start soon and time will be needed to get players adjusted

  • Unpredictable says:

You guys surprise me, who is Nasri to demand, He can go and f*ck himself. We all know he is good but not great, he is not world class so he can leave.

We have players to fill his boots, what did he do last year other than playing very well the first half and then totally disappearing the second.

Sell him if he doesn’t want to play here anymore. We don’t need big players, we need better players than the ones we do have now. We need Parker, Samba, any good striker who can score 25 goals a season and Baines or Enrique.

    That is it.

    • IvoryGoonz says:

Really got no clue have you? Just an advice: stop believing what media says about people, especially when those people warn you upfront.
And really shouldn’t consider Nasri as a not good player… When Fabregas is gone, you’ll see what was missing to bring titles…

  • NefariousGooner says:

This transfer season is shaping up exactly! how I predicted in previous comments I have posted. Get used to it, we all should be used to it by now, 6 years of the same and counting. Cant blame Nasri for wanting ambition, it’s the same thing we have been crying out for for years.
Wenger may not know it but this will be a defining season for him. He can either go down as the most beloved Arsenal manager of all time or leave a legacy of a broken Arsenal, run into the ground by penny pinching, massive ego and refusal to change or admit he has got it wrong.
Let’s see. I really hope he can change his way, make us a world footballing force to be re ones with, but my head tells me it’s not going to happen.
I wonder what would have happened if the fat Russian had bought us instead of the mute American?
Everyone knows we don’t have the current squad to challenge seriously for the title. It’s just a fact, statistics, trophies and points on the table don’t lie, it’s been this way for far too long. Time for Wenger to put up or shut up and leave in disgrace.

    • IvoryGoonz says:

What really makes me laugh is that Wenger and the board are “penny-pinching”, trying to show a good example of business well run, and at the same time they rise prices and prevent middle-class to actually buy the tickets… Just check how many non-corporate boxes are owned by families compared to business men…
If they keep that way, they’ll really be left with suit and ties only to support them…

  • Charlie says:

Idiots, the transfer window hasn’t actually opened yet for buying players outside England.
“Although, in England, the transfer window formally opens on 1 July, transfers between clubs in the same association can take place as soon the last competitive fixtures for the season have been played.”
So yes the Samba deal could in theory have gone through already but it sounds like Blackburn are the ones delaying the process, not Arsene.
If you are gonna routinely slag off the manager for anything from wearing the wrong tie on a Tuesday at least try to get your facts straight first.

    • mick says:

Charlie…..Thank you for a bit of common sense, something distinctly lacking from most of the clowns who comment here.

      • IvoryGoonz says:

Even if the window “officially” opens on first July, you can actually start your shopping from 9th of June and negotiate contract. At least your new player just starts on 1st july. Saying you can’t do nothing til July is just a decoy to let other clubs spend all their money first and avoid our concurrence to pick Wenger’s choices to avoid a bidding war.

    • dan says:

Fab, Nasri, Clichy all want out, that doesnt’ tell you anything?

  • greenius says:

Wenger isnt going to change his habits of a lifetime…there will be no superstar signings of the calibre of villa for 30 million….it isnt his way. By contrast fergie is a man of decision and action. No dithering around and crapping himself at the prospect of shelling out more than 15 million. Wenger hopes to pull off the bargain signing of the year…its what his ego demands. All well and good that you buy a very good player for less than the value he accrues after showing what he can do…but that doesnt win trophies does it.
For all the negativity surrounding the querky,penny-pinching merchant banker wenger, i have a hunch that he is going to improve the squad significantly with 3 or more premier league experienced players and we will at last win a cup next season………the league no!

  • Anon says:

He promised world class and very experienced players and now it looks like we are getting samba and gervinho?

How are these world class signings … and where is overwhelming experience coming from?

Wenger and board are again mugging us off!! 6 years, for the last 2 he has promised experience and yet he never changes … just goes for players in france who have had 1 good season and/ or old players who have never been good enough to play at a top level club!

If nasri stays it will be down to money because these buys do not say ‘we are going for the title next season’

    • IvoryGoonz says:

I won’t say yes for Samba, don’t know how he’d work out in our defensive setup, I’d rather get who is used to play with Vermaelen in national team, so … £12m for Samba? I’d spend that on Vertonghen unless Djourou also goes.
But for Gervinho, either you didn’t watch the French league, or you missed the world cup. He’s the right winger we need, he’s real quality, and this will eventually free Walcott of that role and develop Theo into our new pacey Henry.

      • dan says:

Walcott the new Henry? I suppose your view is that Diaby is the next Vieira?

      • Anon says:

I’ve seen bits and pieces of his play… i think he’s ok, but he is hardly that little something we missed last year – do remember that chamakh was practically the same situation last summer, got a french double or just won the league, lots of interest and we got him … he had an ok 1st year, but these players of hype from france are not the answer to a 6 year trophy wait..i hope you can see that.

He will need a year to get to grips with the league… that will be cut short because of ACoN

  • on with de goonerboy says:

If Weger blows it this time, this our dear club will implode before our very eyes!

Where is he and who’s heard him or is he still on holiday, soaking up the sun on our £6Mil a year pay?
