Would it be wise on Wenger’s part to gamble on this Malaga forward?

|

Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on Malaga’s star forward Salomon Rondon, according to Sky Sports.

The Venezuelan has scored 14 goals in 29 appearances for the La Liga side this season, and appears to have caught the attention of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

The 21-year-old only made his step up to La Liga this season, which makes his goal ratio look even more commendable. His reputation has grown considerably throughout the season, and has rightly attracted scouts from across Europe including Arsenal’s representatives, who were spotted at last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in which Rondon was on the score-sheet.

The Venezuelan international is believed to be valued in the region of £13-18 million, which is a lot to splash out for a player who has had one impressive good first season in Spain. However, Arsene Wenger is an expert at finding the best young talent in the world, and who knows, Salomon Rondon could possibly be the next Thierry Henry.

Buying a young, unknown striker could be seen as a mistake in many Arsenal fans eyes, but he seems like a player worth taking a chance on. He is young and seems to be a natural goal-scorer, which is exactly what the Gunners need in their squad.

I believe he is worth the risk, and if Wenger thinks he is a talented player then surely Arsenal should consider him this summer.

Would Rondon be a good signing for Arsenal?

I don’t really know much about this player, but he does have an impressive record. He has had a good season in Spain, my only concern is it was his first season and you question is he able to repaet or even better his goal tally.

It’s difficult because if he doesn’t invest in him and he has an even better season, his price will go up, but say he does invest in him and he ends up having a poor season then it will be a waste of money.

It’s a difficult decision and I’m glad I don’t have to make it.

Here’s a better idea, Wenger, because we all know how much you hate spending money on someone older than 17: play two strikers up front, van Persie as one and Walcott as the other!

That’s to simple for you though isn’t it, you deluded old fool?

I agree that it might be time to move Theo into the middle, play Nasri on the right and buy a new left winger for some games but the problem is who to drop in midfield. That’s why it’s only suitable for some games because you will sacrifice someone in midfield and retaining possession will be harder. I also don’t believe that Chamakh was ever a goalscorer so i say sell both him and Bendtner. When Wenger bought him i was wondering why you’d buy a striker who scored once every 3 games in France. The stats of this guy are much better, and for a team that probably creates less chances than Bordeaux did. I haven’t seen him play though and the Arsenal scouts have probably seen videos of every match that he was involved in this season so they should know him well.

He cd b a future player but now we need Falco or Gameiro n Hulk or Hazard to improve the goal scoring.

Hm, its time to approve the manager’s buys is it? Dont know abt it although hope his choices will come good. He has done that before and it worked. Some gooners are either spuds in disguisw or are really fed up with AW and I have a word of warning: Be careful what you wish for coz you may get it and realise its your worst nightmare.

I for one know for sure that the day Wenger leaves is the day we should really start to worry.

Wenger, do not hesitate in buying Rondon he is powerfull and he will score higher in the premier.
    he is only 21 yo.

  • william says:

I agree with rub, he has an impresive first year back in spain football, think about this: in a low budget team, actually a really small club as Malaga, with no superstar (just Batista, who arrived in January) this young boy, scored 14 goals, mean while, stars of Real Madrid, as Higuain, Benzema, or the Best World Cup Player (Forlan) didnt make it that far.

  • Javier says:

Adding up to William’s, he scored 16 goals(2 in Cup) and none of them were from Penalty spot. He’s a great header and has a very good positioning into the enemy area.

  • joe says:

sounds a good player . Rated as one o da top ten south americans in europe this season. Malaga have come into big money of late so he wont be moving. 14 goals is impressive for a young player. Malaga are on the up just signed toulalan , buonnotte , van nistelrooy but certainly wont sell one of their prized assets
