Would Cesc Fabregas’ career go ‘nowhere’ if he left Arsenal?

|

Will Fabregas be another Arsenal player to leave and just fade away? In my honest opinion, no he won’t.

Cesc Fabregas has plenty of years ahead of him still, and I just cannot see a player of his calibre simply fading away. There is a lot of difference comparing someone like Fabregas to those who have left in the past such as Emmanuel Petit and Marc Overmars. These two former Gunners both left for Barcelona, and quite frankly, both did very little in comparison to their time at Arsenal.

The following stats below are purely based on league appearances and honours that both Overmars and Petit accomplished after leaving the North London club:

Marc Overmars at Arsenal (3 seasons)

25 goals in 100 Premier League appearances. Honours won – 1 Premier League title and 1 F.A Cup

Marc Overmars at Barcelona (4 seasons)

15 goals in 96 La Liga appearances. Honours won – None

Emmanuel Petit at Arsenal (3 seasons)

12 goals in 85 Premier League appearances. Honours won – 1 Premier League title and 1 F.A Cup

Emmanuel Petit at Barcelona (a season)

1 goal in 23 La Liga appearances. Honours won – None

These stats clearly indicate that unless you’re a rare talent like Thierry Henry, a player that leaves Arsenal usually accomplish very little.

I believe that Arsene Wenger fears the loss of Fabregas will come back to bite him somewhere down the line, after all, Fabregas probably has 6-7 years left in his career, and for him to go to a club like Barcelona at this stage could certainly take his playing career to a new level. I also believe that many fans would question the loss of Fabregas, especially after another disappointing season, and trying to find a replacement that would soften that blow would be practically impossible for Arsenal to find.

The anwser is plain and simply NO! I don’t think his career would go down the train. The fact is he is too good a player and good easy fit into Barca’s first team. He is only 24 and I think he could develop into an even better player then he is now.

    Arsenal are going nowhere.

The thing is with every other player they wanted out for more money or whatever. Even henry wanted to leave to win titles and not a rebuilding project.

Fab loves arsenal…the fact is barcelona are crying for him. and if they pay 40 million for him its not for the bench as everyone thinks. Cesc will start and i can see why guardiola wants him.

He is a born winner. You give him an opportunity and he’ll will the game.

If arsene had surrounded him with a team he would be leading them. watch how he wins the barcelona fans over in a few games…his passing and vision are amazing. Even Xavi and paul scholes and even zidane were not that amazing at his age.

He is the messi of midfield. and he can only get better

so who does guardiola drop to the bench if Cesc starts, iniesta or xavi? neither, cesc will be sitting on the sidelines and playing as an impact sub if barca do get him

Fabregas has been part of the reasons why Arsenal collapsed in big games .He seems to fade in those tight matches and his decision to play at Nou Camp despite being unfit cost us the 1st goal and then the whole mood in the team changed. A captain does not lead that way .And it feeds into the team and thats why the fighting spirit was lost at Nou Camp. And thats when Arsenal’s season started to collapse .

He seemed not to care about winning league games after that and the whole team realised that . He came out and started talking about Arsene Wenger being lucky not be sacked when the team had a shout to win the league . No captain ever said that in Arsenal’s history . These gave the team a serious handicap ,and fed the message that it was not the players issue but a manager issue . Committment in the team was at an all time low and I blame him for being an unfocused and dispirited captain .

I think he should go to Barca , Wilshere & Nasri can play that attacking role or we can replace the vacant midfield role with robust box-to-box midfielders like Jack Rodwell , Marouane Fellaini , Scott Parker . The team will have some solidity in the midfield and height .Wilshere and Nasri can only improve their creativity in that role .
