Why Arsenal should issue a ‘hands off’ warning to those interested in Walcott

|

As I stated earlier, the most obvious improvement was his finishing. Walcott tries to place the ball low and hard into the bottom corner of the net, rather than trying to blast them past the keeper.

By November last year, Walcott had cemented himself as a first-team regular. He was brilliant against Chelsea during our 3-1 win at the Emirates. His performance in the 2-1 win over Barcelona was also good, and repeatedly caused Gabriel Milito trouble with his pace and agility. The speedy winger also appeared more confident in the bigger games, and was mentally stronger than many other Arsenal players.

Walcott brings a completely different dimension to our attack. He is one of the fastest footballers around, and if he beats the offside trap, very few will be able to catch him. As we all know, Arsene Wenger wants him to end up as a striker like Thierry Henry did. However, there are still several fans out there who are frustrated with Walcott. I clearly agree that he is not a complete player. His crossing is below par and he still makes a few hasty decisions that might look really stupid. However, 11 goals and 12 assists this season is a clear indication that he is improving and can only get better.

Earlier on in the season, Wenger stated that Walcott is still only 22 and needs a couple of years to become a complete player.

In spite of several clubs chasing him at the moment, most notably Juventus and A.C Milan, I feel it would be extremely stupid to cash in on a player who is clearly improving every week and is still so very young. If his performances are anything to go by, there is no reason why he couldn’t be the successor to the great Thierry Henry.

We should be a club producing world-class talents and playing them, not be a finishing school for youngsters. Arsenal should definitely issue a ‘hands off’ warning to those interested as I believe Theo Walcott is a star in the making, and a future Arsenal great.

He needs to work on his technical ability, because it’s very bad. He also needs to work on his crossing and strength. Only then will he be considered a great player.

It’ll be all over the sports pages tomorrow – terrible news for Arsenal – Wilshire to sign for City for treble his wages deal – Nasri to Inter in swap for Diego Milito. Cesc Fabregas was asked about his future and was coy to the point of as good as saying offski. Major rebuilding needed next season.

I think he has developed into a fine player. I still think he needs to work on his crossing and some of his technical ability. Also I think he needs to strengthen up. When he does this he could be a brilliant player.

    Sell him and buy quality.

    Totally agree mate
Wasn’t Henry 22 when he joined the gunners and in that season got near enough the same amount of goals Theo got. Just saying, you never know what he might turn into our next top goalscorer?
Also don’t forget he’s missed a fair amount of games this season due to injury so a thew of his appearances were from the bench.
