Could this Argentinean star be the next big thing at Arsenal?

|

If recent reports are anything to go by then Arsenal have supposedly made their first summer signing – 23-year-old attacking midfielder Ricardo ‘Ricky’ Alvarez.

The Argentinean star is said to have signed a pre-contact agreement with the Gunners, that will see him move to North London in June when is contact with current club Velez Sarsfield comes to an end.

The move may not be welcomed by many Arsenal fans though, as they are extremely tired of seeing relatively unknown players arrive at the club. However, Alvarez has been likened to Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, and has caught the eyes of many with his attacking flair, blistering pace and silky smooth dribbling.

The midfielder is also extremely versatile. He is capable of playing anywhere across the midfield or even as a second striker. He is left-footer, which could help strengthen the left side of our midfield should Andrey Arshavin or even Samir Nasri leave the club this summer.

A player with versatility and flamboyance is exactly what Arsenal desire.

In the last few weeks of the season, Arsenal completely fell apart. There was a lack of creativity within the midfield due to the absences of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri through injury. Alvarez could possibly be that third player who can deliver that killer pass, or who is able to make decisive runs from the midfield and create something out of nothing.

In my opinion Alvarez can only be a good signing, purely for the fact that he will cost nothing in transfer fees. The 6’2’’ Argentinean possesses all the qualities needed to become a top quality footballer in the near future, and could potentially be a brilliant player for the Gunners in seasons to come.

Here is a video of the man in action:

You are such an idiot its actually unbelievable

    • Ak says:

He is one of the best players in the side that is topping the league, why would he be moving to a side that is bottom of the Argentinian league? He is moving to the real Arsenal, because he is arsenal standard!

  • Leo says:

Sometimes our players are pussy footing around the box on attack and then get caught on the break. I have always said we need a winger with pace that can run at players and beat them, making our attack more direct. This guy seems to be able to do that but in Argentina. We’ll have to wait and see if he can do it in England. Let’s hold thumbs

    Afternoon Gooners,
from what I heard about him I doubt if no one is looking forward to see him at Arsenal next season. They described him as a player who likes to create spaces for others and likes to shoot something that the current crop of Arsenal are scared to do. his height is tremendous and bare in mind I don’t recall Arsenal shopping in Argentina though the country has produced players with talents and you judge for yourself how many Argentineans are being praised all over the world. lets sign him coz he’s a free agent.

It is good that Arsenal want to do player shopping somewhere not in France. God has answered my prayers if this Abu Diaby and Squillaci will leave including Clichy whom I never like from the start. they are all useless.

Alvarez would have been dumb to sign for the argentinian arsenal… He is coming to us and its a good signing

  • Jp says:

Why would a player who has had a great season at a club fighting at the top of the league go to a club fighting relegation!
Some people post things just to stand out, but end up looking like planks!

  • suguruni says:

no way, another playmaker, we need reforce with one strike, defende and goalkeeper, no need more playmakers(its enough with nasri, cesc, ramsey, rocisky and wilshere)

  • Bond says:

He looks a good player, he has pace, skill and is creative. He looks good but I hope he is able to show this in the Premier League because we all know the English league is far superior to the Argentinian league.

  • omodudu says:

how many of such players that come from that part of the world are an instant hit in thier 1st season we need a player that will make instant hit as soon as he arrives.if we are sure of that then no pain.
