A potential recruit to fill Arshavin, Rosicky or even Fabregas’ boots?

|

Arsenal are looking to bolster their ranks this summer and appear to be eyeing up a potential move for Lyon starlet Miralem Pjanic, according to Sportingo.

The attacking midfielder has been tracked by a number of Premier League clubs in the past, most notably Carlo Ancelotti’s Chelsea, who were heavily linked with a move for the Lyon youngster in January. However, the proposed move never came to pass. Pjanic now appears to have fallen out-of-favour at the Ligue 1 outfit due to the arrival of Yoann Gourcuff from Bordeaux last summer.

Pjanic has managed to rack up 34 appearances (in all competitions) for Lyon so far this season, but has only started 16 times and net 4 goals.

Despite not playing a major role in the club’s first-team plans this season, the Bosnia international believes his future still lies with Lyon. The 21-year-old told French publication, L’Equipe:

‘I am 21 years old and I am under contract at Lyon for a long time. I want to leave my mark on the club. When I wasn’t playing I was disappointed and sad, but I never wanted to leave.’

In spite of this, Arsenal, who have been monitoring Pjanic’s progress since his days as a Metz player, are reportedly preparing to test the Bosnian’s resolve with an estimated £12 million bid during the summer.

With the futures of Andrey Arshavin, Tomas Rosicky and of course Cesc Fabregas in doubt, Arsene Wenger may look to Lyon’s frozen out starlet, Miralem Pjanic, as an ideal recruit for the Gunners this summer.

Would Miralem Pjanic be a good signing for Arsenal this summer?

In our latest look at the fortunes of professional soccer Manchester United is once again on top, the most valuable franchise in football, and in all of professional sports, at $1.86 billion. Number two? Real Madrid with a value of $1.4 billion. Arsenal, at $1.19 billion is number three.

better go for gourcuff! but i doubt that lyon will sell him and wenger won’t pay insane transfer fees. but for me he’d the man to replace cesc (if he leaves)

If Cesc leaves, forget the french players, get in some German grit and work ethic and buy Schweinsteiger. Quality footballer, winnig mentality, great engine and a fighter.

  • Tree says:

I think he is a quality and should be bought by Wenger. He has the talent and considering he doesn’t start for Lyon, I’m sure he will definately start for Arsenal. Wenger should buy him know matter what.
