Bayern ponder summer move for Arsenal defender

|

Reports in Germany are claiming that Bayern Munich are pondering a summer move for Arsenal full-back Bacary Sagna.

According to German daily publication, Bild, Munich are on the look out for a long-term solution at right-back, which hasn’t been sufficiently filled since fan favourite Willy Sagnol retired back in 2009.

Club captain Philipp Lahm has since shifted to the allocated slot, but Bild are under the impression that new Bayen boss Jupp Heynckes wants the German international to be playing in his favoured position at left-back next season, and sees Sagna, 28, as the ideal man to fill the void this summer.

Arsene Wenger will surely fight tooth and nail to keep the Frenchman, who is also wanted by Serie A outfit Roma, at the Emirates this summer as the Arsenal boss knows that if he were to lose Sagna during the summer window then the Gunners would be short of a suitable replacement.

sell sagna..but only if we get over 20 million for him…otherwise…forget it…hes def the best RB in the league. Our LB situation is not bad either…behind the likes of evra and cole, clichy is a cool 3rd. back to topic..pay money take sagna and we can take on richards from man city.

  • Will Savage says:

Keep him all day long. Solid as a rock, very reliable, good fitness levels. An eye for goal as well when he gets the chance. Best RB in the league imo, why would you sell?

  • Black says:

If they do sell him, look to sell him for 20 million and with that money bring in Gregory van der Wiel, trust me he is absolutely quality.

If we don’t sell him, then great because I think he is really good, but for next season he needs to work on positioning a bit more and his crossing of the ball.

I would accept 20 million for him and no less. Then stick Eboue there. His shortcomings have all come when he’s played out of position, but Eboue is a quality right Full-back … people forget this.

Do we want the whole Belgian defense? lol. Sure, Wiel is good but defensewise we need a centre-half with the quality of Vermaelen. Left Full-back is cover with Clichy (who isn’t 3rd best in the league) and Calamity Gibbs who makes Clichy look solid. Koscielny is ok, but we need him as back up with Djourou, and only that. With a quality Centre-half, defense should be tight and with adequate cover for injuries. Remember Vermaelen is an accomplished left full-back if needed, such as when Gibbs is injured as usual. Actually, in big games I would put Vermaelen before Gibbs in a BIG GAME if Djourou or Koscielny were available to partner a yet to be signed quality Centre half.

Sagna is quality, I like him, but 20 million can’t be sniffed at. In most positions we’ve been frustrated with mickey mouse players replacing quality. We’re lucky to have cover for Sagna with Eboue and Wilshere/Ramsey as cover for Fabregas. If Bacary and Cesc leave, that’s 70 million to fill other positions which are lacking, like striker and Defensive Midfielder. If we had a Vieira in Midfield to partner Ramsey or Wilshere, a 50 game a season goalscorer who isn’t made of glass and quality centre half. How can we fail? Especially if Chamakh, Denilson, Bendtner and possibly Van Persie being sold in the Summer – another 50 million to spend. No to Cahill by the way.

20 million for sagna lol ok and i guess denilson must be worth 20mill too!! no 9 to 10 mill would be ok but i’d rather keep him for another season,at least, then bring jackson the rb at charlton, who i think on his way to the club

  • Edu says:

Arsenal…talkn of selln’ van persie is suicidal, regardles of his documented injuries,he luvs th club and in 20 games scores nd assists th goals scored by a 50 games a season strikes.

  • RvP10 says:

some people shud know that there is no replacement for cesc.. ramsey and jack are good players but nothing like cesc.. when cesc is not there we cant create.. i hardly see walcott chasing the ball when cesc is not playing coz no one can put a thru ball like cesc does or a inch perfect pass.. maybe one day ramsey will but not at the moment..

sagna- well our defence is already struggling and we are thinking about selling our maybe the best defender in epl.. wow… lets forget about any trophie just make money by selling all our best players.. YEA…

    • mark says:

with RVP we didn’t need Cesc and Rosicky was our main force in the center.
The problem with Cesc was that he was too one-dimensional and we’ll be better off with a more dynamic midfield.

    • mark says:

it won’t be long before Ox makes you forget about Cesc.

  • mark says:

it’s either keep or replace as Jenkinson is not ready to take over. That said, if a big enough offer is made, it will probably become an economic decision given Sagna’s age. I hope not, because I admire Sagna and its time we rewarded our committed players by showing our commitment to them.
