Why Denilson & Diaby must be shown the exit doors this summer

|

Arsenal midfield duo Abou Diaby and Denilson should be the first two players (on a very long list) to pack their bags and head straight for the Emirates exit doors when the summer transfer window opens.

As a diehard Arsenal fan, I am simply fed up of watching these two midfielders parade on the pitch like their great when clearly they’re the opposite.

In my opinion, both players lack desire and heart, and quite frankly, have overstayed their welcome at the North London side. To be honest, I’ve just had enough of them.

This is not just a sudden outburst due to Saturdays result against Manchester United in the F.A Cup at Old Trafford. Truth be told, I have been watching Arsenal intently this season (as I have been every year), and see Diaby and Denilson as major liabilities to the team.

I know some Arsenal fans will be reading this thinking I’m off my head and that I should be positive, but whilst these two ‘footballers’ are on the Arsenal payroll my doubts over the team lifting some silverware will remain intact.

As stated earlier, my opinion on these two are not purely based on their performances from Saturdays game, it’s based on the entire season and years gone by.

Here are my reasons to support my case over why Abou Diaby and Denilson need to be sold at the earliest opportunity:

Let me start with Abou Diaby. Although the 24-year-old appears to have some skill in those lanky legs of his, honestly, the Frenchman lacks movement (in terms of tracking back) and holds the ball for far too long in my opinion. I know he has suffered a lot of horrible injuries in the past (and even earlier on in the season) as an Arsenal player, but when I watch him play, I truly believe he doesn’t care about the club. I know that sounds bad to say, but that’s what I perceive from his body language and facial expressions whilst he’s on the pitch. The midfielder has been likened to the legendary Patrick Vieira by several journalists and Arsene Wenger himself in the past, but I fail to see the comparison. The only thing similar between him and Patrick is their nationality, that’s it.

How can anyone have the heart or desire to play when people like you make, abusing players their hobby. Haven’t you ever suffered from lack of confidence in your life?

Doesn’t care about the club? Did he personally tell you that he doesn’t care. Samir Nasri has had wretched last few weeks. Do you think he doesn’t care about the club as well? Abou Diaby is an attacking midfielder and tracking back is not his USP. Yet he is made to play in the DM position.

Finally, questioning a players integrity after he’s had a good game is just foolhardy. Try publishing your articles on time (Arsenal played Blackpool last and not ManU in the FA cup) first and then demand perfection from others.

Neither of them are good enough. However,I would keep Diaby a bit longer maybe another season.On- the-hand,Denilson must go as he is definitely not Arsenal quality and to be frank,he wouldn’t make any other squad in the top fly.

      • metalhead says:

“Not good enough” is too generalized. What most people forget is that Diaby is Arsenal’s fourth maybe fifth choice Central midfielder after Cesc, Wilshere, Song and maybe Ramsey. He wouldn’t even start for Arsenal if everybody was fit. Not good enough to be a squad player? I disagree. He brings the variety that Arsenal need to mix things up. Denilson is even further down the pecking order. If you replace Denilson with someone like Ibrahim afellay, he may not want to be a 6th choice midfielder. Let us say he leapfrogs a couple of players because of his performances and makes it to the starting eleven it might mean Wilshere may have to sit it out. If that happens the offer from Man City may seem tempting for him.

lol jus coz he starred against Blackpool does not mean he is a great player, he has been poor this season, and as for Denilson I dont understand why he is still on the books. Sell both of them

To be candid, Denilson and Diaby are too average for a club like arsenal…cos day in day out they are both underperforming, there is no season where they are outstanding since they have been in arsenal….put aside injury occurrence, everybody knows that Van persy is a good player despite the fact that he is injury prone, but anytime he is fit you will definitely feel his presence and impact…. so i support the motion to let Diaby and Denilson go in order to give room new players that can feel their role better…..Gunners 4 life, cos in arsenal we trust.

  • Stevie says:

Agree. Based on their performances over the past 4 seasons or so, Denilson and Diaby are simply not up to par.

  • Bosun says:

I think diaby needs to be adequately tutored on d essence of vision, commitment n responsibility.he’s a player full of potentials bt i think he shld stay while denilson shld be let go,he is imature n always seem absent minded on the pitch.

  • Gooner4eva says:

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with Diaby. In fact I think Diaby has the potential to be a great player but he just needs to get his head right and be managed correctly. Denilson on the other hand…

The reason Arsenal have been so poor over the last few seasons (and getting worse), is because of the above people who are always ready to accept any & all trash that pull on an Arsenal shirts.
How many more years will we hear the Arsenal song, let’s give them a bit longer.
That is Arsenals problem we give too much cr*p too much time at the club. diaby is 24 years old and we’ve been hearing about his so called talent for way too long.
Diaby and Denilson are lazy, clumsy & have no technical knowledge at all. i’ve yet to see Denilson win a tackle, chase back or play a forward pass.
I’d also add song to the list because he is the same, slow, clumsy and his tackling is very very poor.
Until we buy quality or start giving the so called future of arsenal ( our youth) a chance, we will continue to make progress backwards.

    • Plough says:

Totally agree, what these guys fail to realize is that they are 23-24 year old players and are still not there yet…get rid of them and get players in.

  • fowler says:

its not just that they are playing badly they are also halting the development of young players such as ramsey, lansbury, frimpong and even coquelin. they would all be in the arsenal squad if these 2 muppets would do the decent thing and just leave.

    enough said.

  • plerrgh says:

@cesc Song? Why get rid of Song? A player who has come on massively in the last two seasons. Take him out of the team and we are defensively even more frail than usual. I don’t have the statistics but when he is playing we definitely win more games than without him. The only thing he needs to do is temper the need to get forward as much as he sometimes does. I would never call Alex Song lazy though.

As for Diaby, he has potential, certainly, but his development has stalled. Whether or not it is from a lack of playing time is another thing. We see flashes of brilliant skill and then he makes a terrible decision or holds on to the ball for too long and misses opportunities to make the killer pass. The lack of tracking back is infuriating too, I just wonder if this is due to a lack of fitness in general? Let’s hope the Blackpool game is his turning point.
Denilson, also, sometimes plays brilliantly. When he completely owned Vieira against Juventus a few years back was a highlight. I fear it’s curtains for him now though. Lucas Leiva gets in the Brazil squad these days and he’s shite. That says something doesn’t it?

I have been the biggest supporter of these two in the past and it’s hard to say it but I think this is really make or break for them. I hope they prove everyone wrong, including myself now.
The manager didn’t see something in them for no reason. Let’s just hope something clicks. Maybe the new ownership will be a reason for them to start performing.

We are near the end of the season now, we can’t do anything about this til the summer, so let’s get behind who is at the club.

  • @Welsh_Gooner says:

I agree Denilson should be sold but for slightly different reasons…

I think he’s not at the level he needs to be but the fans have been poor with certain players this year and at West Brom away we ended Denilson right there. He doesn’t have the self belief to come back from that so I think better for us and him if he moves on.

Diaby however, is an international at his age… definitely has more to come and I’d be much happier if he stayed.

Rosicky on the other hand was instrumental when first joined but the team has outgrown him… Denilson and Tomas should be holding hands out of the exit door and not Abou.

  • Sina says:

    Both of them suck.especially denilson.
    Love arsenal,hate wenger

  • squeeku says:

what other player do you see that is better than diaby willing to sit on the bench and not play ulness. Jack or aaron or Song or Cesc or Nasri is injured?
He probably will be sold tough if Landsbury and frimpong and couquelin fulfulls their potential or are even close to do so this summer. But dont expect someone uber great to come in instead of him.

Tell me honestly, what kind of mad player that is better than Diaby would wanna be 5th choice(5TH CHOICE!!!!) at Arsenal???
If you are a better player than Diaby and Deninson you would be mad to go to a club to become 5th choice. And if you are bought as a5th chouice you cant be better than Diaby anyway…

    get my drift?
