Who should be Arsene Wenger’s next right-hand man after Pat Rice retires? – Have your say

|

So it appears that Arsenal legend and assistant manager Pat Rice will finally end his 27 year love affair as a staff member at the North London club, after several reports claim that the 62-year-old will retire at the end of the season when his current contract expires.

This will of course leave the Gunners chief, Arsene Wenger, considering possible replacements for the open vacancy this summer.

A number of names have already been thrown in the hat, from legendary centre-back Steve Bould to the ‘Ice man’ Dennis Bergkamp to…Gilles Grimandi!

But who would be best suited to fill the void left by Pat Rice this summer and, evidently, be Wenger’s right-hand man?

Definitely DB! He’s doing well as a coach in the Netherlands and he’s inspirational, experienced, brilliant, and adores Arsenal. He also admires and gets on very well with AW. Being No.2 it doesn’t matter if he misses Euro nights through flying phobia…

let wenger in charge with attacking , george graham in defending.

ying and yang gonna be balance , thats how the team gonna be harmony and happy.

and the fans gonna be happy too.

the owner gonna make tons of money.

    SO! lets get george graham!

I would either get Tony Adams or Dennis Bergkamp. They both have vast knowledge about football and the club itself. They were both excellent players and more importantly they what it takes to win trophies. They will be able to pass on there knowledge and I think they would both challenge Wenger’s ideas and help him get back on track.

Tony adams are people having a laugh granted he was a great player for us but that doesnt make him a good manager or assistant does nobody remember what sort of an awful job he done for wycombe and Portsmouth come on guys and if his interviews are anything to go by (completely monotone) I really cannot see that motivating the players bergkamp or Wilkins for me!

Would like to see Bergkamp, Adams or even Vieira. But I get a feeling that Wenger will try to appoint another “yes man”.

The idea of GG is very very scary – boring boring non-attack tactics that Wenger has put us all through so much to change at Arsenal; knows nothing about the modern game, gets his fingers stuck in the till, is disliked by most people in football, need I go on? TA was an inspirational captain marvel but – as he has proved – that doesn’t make him a decent coach/manager. If his team talks are like his TV interviews, the players are asleep in 5 minutes… He is no tactician… Frankly, there is little choice of people of class with the coaching qualification and proven management skills – DB (the only candidate I can think of who also loves our Club and respects its history), Wilkins, O’Neill (if you want another bore), Gus, Mourinio (be careful what you wish for…), Gardiola (if he was willing, I’d be prepared to consider him but, like Mourinio, he’d want the top job). That’s why Ferg can’t let go – who to? Look at the mess England are in because of stupid decisions. It has to be a very careful choice of someone who’ll be around for a long time and be what our Club needs to work with AW to bring back the glory days. It has to be someone who understands Wenger’s philosophy of entertaining football but someone who AW respects and who can nudge him when he’s stubborn. AND, remember that AW arrived from the moon – an unknown here – so maybe our Club is already doing their research and could surprise us… Forever a Gooner x
