Serie A outfit Roma are preparing to launch a £12 million bid for Arsenal midfielder Alex Song this summer, according to Italian publication Il Messaggero.
The 23-year-old, who joined the North London club from Bastia in 2005, has become an essential part of Arsene Wenger’s side in the past 3 seasons in the defensive midfield position.
It’s been reported in Italy that Roma’s new owner, Thomas DiBenedetto, wants the Cameroon international to be apart of a new-look Giallorossi side next season, and have listed the Arsenal man as their number one transfer target this summer.
Arsenal will undoubtedly do everything within their power to keep hold of the tenacious midfielder, especially considering the time and effort Arsene Wenger has invested in the Cameroonian over the years.
I believe Alex Song is a key player for Arsenal. When he is absent from the side they seem to struggle more in midfield. It would make no sense for Arsenal to entertain any bids for Song this summer, as I believe he is one of our better midfielders and can potentially improve. Now had Roma targeted Abou Diaby or Denilson and were preparing a £12 million bid for either one of them this summer, then I would definitely urge Arsenal to consider the bid.
Arsenal need to keep hold of their best players, and although a number of fans may disagree, I believe Alex Song is one of them.

£12 million + De Rossi and they got a deal
song is good but 4 the money lve of our coach i think he should consider the bid n after go 4 some experience like in scot parker hes far good frm song n cheap 2 and also hes good with long range shots
i think we need to keep song he has been very good for us in the last two seasons. We need to get rid of denilson instead promote frimpong to first team like he would have been this year and maybe go for that m’villa guy who is being talked about lately. I would also keep diaby
song his good let koscenliy go
Song should never leave Arsenal. I don’t know what will happen, but this is where the players loyalty towards the club is tested.
Look at Clichy, for example. Rumors went about saying that he’ll leave Arsenal, but he then says that he’s loyal to the club and owes Wenger a lot.
Ignore Fabregas. Clichy is a true gunner and I’m sure we all hope the Cameroonian golden boy is.
wouldn’t see the sense of letting go of Song and keeping the like of Denilson and Diaby.
This is difficult because he is good player but as of late he is making fundamental errors. I think he is a good player and Arsenal should keep him. Mind you I would consider selling him if they offered De Rossi plus cash.
