Has the pressure of being Arsenal captain finally taken its toll on Cesc Fabregas?

|

The way in which he has performed as a captain are clear signs that one day he will be a successful and inspirational one for whatever team he plays for.

With just an F.A Cup medal to his name in the past eight years, there are signs that Cesc’s patience is finally wearing thin.

The way he questioned Arsenal’s priorities reflects a young talented footballer desperate for trophies. Rumours are flying around suggesting that Fabregas will be playing his final matches for the club in the upcoming weeks. Wenger is sure to know this, and in an attempt to convince his captain to stay, the Frenchman also promised to bring in the experience which the team has severely lacked in recent years:

‘We’ll try to certainly bring in some more experience. One of the reasons I took [Jens] Lehmann back was because he has done it.’

While hearing these words from Wenger is refreshing, the likes of Jens Lehmann are clearly not the answer. You need players who have a considerable number of years of football left in the tank as well as experience. Wenger was also quick to defend his young squad which he feels are learning the hard way:

‘Some managers think if a player wants to go he has to go but I believe that this team has been educated and grown together. They are very young. The biggest achievement for them will be to win together. I think they will have learnt their job the hard way.’

The Arsenal boss felt that with the team having grown together for so many years it would only be fitting if they win something together. Wenger also spoke of what the elusive first trophy would do to the confidence of the players. The Frenchman felt there was too much pressure placed on Cesc Fabregas, and also mentioned that the Spain international will grow as a leader as and when things start going their way:

‘Once they win, they will be stronger. The pressure is too much on Cesc at the moment because it doesn’t go as well as we want. But once it will go well, he will grow with it. Every difficulty in life will make you stronger, especially when you have a strong character.’

We can all just hope that the trauma of the last two months has given our players a lesson or two about how to be successful, and With Wenger stating that he is looking to bring in experienced heads in the summer; this will surely please Arsenal’s captain and fans alike.

There is no excuse for Fabregas’s performances, ok I understand that he is frustrated with the lack of experience within the team and the lack of trophies, but that is no excuse to play bad. If you love the club you give it your best, no matter what happens.

I also don’t like how he bad mouths the manager, it shows a lack of respect for him, ok he may be right but keep it within the club, don’t broadcast it to the world. He needs to concentrate on his football and stop whining.

On another note, Wenger said he will spend money on experienced players, I’ll believe it when I see it. If he does do as he states, I hope they are the right players and not on unknown useless players.

certainly the captaincy had burden him physiologically. Look at his body language in every match, like he was strangle. Its time to change the armband and gave it to someone to use leading like TV. Not disrespecting Cesc, but just do something to free him on one burden.
