Arsenal’s win over Blackpool last Sunday not only closed the gap at the top to just 7 points, it was also the Gunners first Premier League victory since February 23rd.
It was a much needed victory which certainly boosted the confidence of the players and the clubs fans.
But there is still another fact which few would know, amidst the disappointing results over the past two months, the Gunners are currently unbeaten in the Premier League this year. Their last defeat came against Manchester United at Old Trafford on December 13th.
This ultimately shows that the Gunners do have some kind of consistency within the Premier League. A 12 game unbeaten run isn’t too much to brag about, but could this possibly fabricate into another historic run for the North London club? If they were to go unbeaten for the remaining 7 games of the season, and a couple more in the next season, this current squad could potentially break the record set by the ‘Invincibles’ back in 2003.

Is the current Arsenal squad good enough to shatter the phenomenal 49 games unbeaten record though? The same team that is prone to defensive mistakes like the one we saw against Birmingham City in the Carling Cup final? Or could they prove everyone wrong and do the unimaginable?
The ‘Invincibles’ were certainly in a class of their own, and probably the best team formed under Arsene Wenger since taking charge of the Premier League outfit. Realistically, I don’t feel the current crop of Arsenal players can do better than the likes of Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Sol Campbell and Patrick Vieira. However, if the Gunners can go unbeaten until the end of the season, it just might be enough for them to lift their first trophy in 5 years, and evidently, keep track of the 49ers record.

NO
we do have a class team when everyone is fit, that is withbout doubt, it is a genuine title winning team… but no way as good as the invincibles, mainly because of the insane experience, fight and depth of that squad, and with spending so little, wenger has done an awesome job with this team… make no mistake
I don’t think we have a chance of doing it and personally these crop of players are not better then the invincibles, so I hope they don’t.
No chance in hell, that’s what they got!
