Are Arsenal really miles off from achieving domestic glory as former Gunner Stewart Robson claims?

|

Former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson believes the Gunners are still miles off from having a side capable of being crowned Premier League champions, according to talkSPORT.

Robson, who currently summarises for Arsenal TV, believes that although Arsene Wenger has a talented squad at his disposal, the Frenchman still needs to work on his side’s balance. Speaking to talkSPORT’s evening ‘Kick Off’ show last night, Robson said:

‘They’ve got a lot of talented players but as a team they still have a lot of work to do. As you saw on Saturday there was a lack of pace and a lack of belief in the way they were playing.’

‘I still believe that to be a great side you have to get the balance right between attacking and defensive football, you have to be good when the ball changes hand. At times Arsenal have had one but not the other and until they get both at the same time they will not be champions.’

Robson also thinks Wenger is relying too much on 19-year-old Jack Wilshere, especially whilst Cesc Fabregas has been out of action.

‘If Fabregas had been fit, I don’t think Wilshere would have needed to play, but Arsene Wenger believes Wilshere is the player that can unlock defences. At some point Arsene Wenger is going to look at Jack Wilshere and say I can’t play him quite so much because it could ruin his career.’

Do you agree with Stewart Robson’s comments on the current squad?

Are Arsenal really a long way off from being crowned Premier League champions as the 46-year-old claims?

I agree, Arsenal are well far off from winning the Premiership, we have young talent but no steel within the squad. We need experience, players who know how to win and players who know how to get stuck in, or else forget about Arsenal winning anything for a long time.

Stewart Robson is an imbecile. He makes a few good points, but he’s an imbecile.
If you need proof, look at what he’s wearing in that picture.

He does look like a right plonker, but I do agree with him. I think Arsenal are still not there yet, maybe not miles away as Robson suggested, but we do lack something which needs to be addressed asap.

Okay, I might have been in a bad mood when I wrote that… lol
You’re spot on, it doesn’t seem to be a team of champions but they’re very close.

I agree about Jack, especially considering he was used as a more attacking player during his development. Would love to see him miss the U-21’s for England however his passion for the game won’t let him do that…good or bad…you have to respect his desire to play for country, even if it is England.
