Arsenal put on alert as Eliaquim Mangala’s agent invites Premier League move

|

Its been reported that Standard Liege defender Eliaquim Mangala is ready to make a big summer move which has put Premier League outfits Arsenal and Tottenham on alert.

The 20-year-old Frenchman is highly regarded as one of the best young talents in Belgium at present, and was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal or Spurs earlier on in the season, but nothing transpired. However, the defender’s agent, Fabrizio Ferrari, claims that his client is now preparing himself for a summer move to England. Ferrari was quoted on tribalfootball.com saying:

‘I hope to have some offers from English clubs (in the summer). I think he is ready to move on and play in another championship – even if Standard is regarded as one of the top clubs in Europe.’

Mangala has been likened to Tottenham’s William Gallas and is also greatly admired by Arsene Wenger, who has been keeping tabs on the France Under-21 international for over 2 years now.

The 6’1’’ centre-back, who can also be deployed as a defensive midfielder or full-back, has made over 80 appearances and scored twice for Standard Liege since joining the Belgium club in 2007.

I’ve not heard too much about him but If he is compared to a younger Gallas then he must be good. Whoever Wenger buys he needs to buy right.
