A view from the enemy: The Shed Ender on Drogba, Arsenal’s midfield and the return of Lampard

|

Where do you think the game will be won/lost for Chelsea?

Chelsea seem to have a winning formula against Arsenal lately, even when we let Arsenal have a lot of the ball, we are more than capable of soaking up a lot of the pressure. So, the midfield battle is very key for us. Having the likes of Michael Essien and Jon Obi Mikel within the ranks definitely helps us a lot as they don’t shirk their defensive duties and are capable of moving the ball on with pace.

Who do you think Chelsea’s danger men will be and why?

I think many fans, pundits and experts will be looking to Drogba to be the main danger man for us, and with good reason considering his history in this fixture, but I’m going to tip Ashley Cole to have a great game against his old club. The left back is always up for this derby and has three assists in his last two games against Arsenal.

Who are you most wary of in the Arsenal team?

If he’s fit and he’s playing then Cesc Fabregas would be a worry for any team, as I see him as the best all-round midfielder in the league. The same can be said about Robin Van Persie as he’s a threat…when he’s not on the treatment table. Samir Nasri has had a great start to the season and looks to have improved a fair bit, so he’s definitely one to watch out for, but I’m hoping we can handle the snood-wearing Frenchman and keep him as anonymous as possible.

I’m guessing you’ve read John Terry’s recent comments about the team’s lack of depth which could hinder your title challenge, would you agree with this claim?

I would argue that we have the best starting XI in the league, but John Terry is exactly right when he says the squad lacks the depth it once had, and is no doubt much weaker without the likes of Michael Ballack, Ricardo Carvalho, Juliano Belletti, Deco and Joe Cole to bolster the ranks. Many Chelsea fans were hoping we would invest in some of the top young talent that emerged from the World Cup in the summer, but we have been quite frugal over the past three years and our last three significant purchases (Jose Bosingwa, Yury Zhirkov and Ramires) are not guaranteed first XI players, so we haven’t necessarily spent wisely either.

Can we get a prediction on the result?

I think we will concede a goal at some point (hopefully not first), so will go for a 2-1 win for the Blues.
