Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has hinted that Arsene Wenger will remain at the club beyond the end of the season.

Wenger has entered the final year of his contract at Arsenal, and speculation continues to float around whether it will be his last season at the Emirates, with the Frenchman remaining quiet over his future.

Despite revolutionising Arsenal football club and forging ‘the Invincibles’, the Emirates faithful remain split on whether he should remain in charge of the club having only won two FA Cups in the past 11 years.

And when asked about the prospect of replacing the 67-year-old Frenchman, Kroenke, Arsenal’s majority shareholder, said at the AGM:

‘You see it (at Manchester United).

‘It’s very hard. He’s a great manager. He’s been a wonderful influence on the club. We are all very high on Arsene. We are top of the table right now.

‘I know a number of (sports team) owners that are very successful that say the same thing – the hardest thing to do is be consistently competitive at the top of the league.

‘Arsene has always done that and Arsenal has always been in that position. We have always been competitive. We may not always win the things we want to win. We are very focused on winning the league. Arsene’s been consistently at the top and I will tell you – it’s very, very hard to do if you look around sports.’

It remains to be seen whether Wenger will be given a new contract at the club. However, it has been made clear that if Wenger wants to continue to be Arsenal manager, he will be due to his previous accomplishments.

A section of the Emirates faithful will be unhappy to hear this, whilst other will be delighted should he put pen to paper on a new deal.
