Valencia’s manager has stated that Arsenal target Shkodran Mustafi will not be sold this summer, amid continued rumours that Arsene Wenger wants him at the Emirates Stadium.

The Germany international has impressed in recent years since swapping Italian side Sampdoria for the Mestalla outfit.

Mustafi has also been part of the Germany squad that won the World Cup in Brazil two years ago and made the latter stages of Euro 2016 in the summer.

Despite rumours stating that the former Everton youth player could be set to move to North London, Valencia manager Pako Ayestaran has stated differently.

“Mustafi is not for sale and he will stay at VCF,” ESPN quote the coach as saying.

“The market is open and there are still possibilities.

“The president has said in public that Alcacer and Mustafi are not for sale and I have to believe her.”

Arsenal fielded inexperienced duo Rob Holding and Calum Chambers in their opening day defeat to Liverpool and looked devoid of a defensive leader.

Although Koscielny’s return a week later against Leicester City saw the Gunners improve, a new central defender looks like a must before the transfer window closes at the end of August.
