Italian giants Inter Milan are desperate to hang onto Arsenal target Mauro Icardi and have again released a statement to clarify that the Argentine striker is not for sale.

The former Barcelona youth player has made massive strides in the Italian game and is now one of the most feared forward in Serie A.

Icardi has been made Inter captain after stunning performances at the San Siro but has also drawn the interest of a host of other major European teams.

Reports in the press have stated that the Gunners are ready to slash around £40 million on the South American, with it believed that a meeting with Icardi’s agent was even scheduled.

However, following on from similar comments a few days ago, Inter owner Erick Thorir has stated that the Milanese club will not be parting company with their prize asset this summer.

“We’re not going to sell Icardi,” The Telegraph quote the Inter chief as saying.

“He’s our captain and an important player for us. We’re very happy with him.”

Arsenal are also being linked with striker Alexandre Lacazette and Wissam Ben Yedder.
