Granit XhakaGranit Xhaka’s agent has refused to rule out a move to Arsenal this January.

It’s been suggested that Arsene Wenger has been monitoring the Borussia Monchengladbach defensive midfielder in recent months, who now appears ready to quit the German club, according to reports.

The 23-year-old Switzerland international has also been linked with a move to Bayern Munich, Napoli and Spurs, but the Gunner look to be in pole position for his signature this month.

When asked about the player’s future, his father Ragip Xhaka, who also acts as his agent, said anything is possible and left the door open for any interested club to make a move:

‘At the moment I prefer not to say too much.

‘We’ll see what happens. I can say that several big clubs are interested. Everything is possible, we’re not ruling anything out.’

Xhaka, who has made 15 Bundesliga appearances so far this season, still has over three years left to run on his current contract and is valued by Monchengladbach at around £14 million.

Wenger has stated that he intends to seal no more than two deals this month, with Basel’s Mohamed Elneny expected to be one of them.

But with Elneny’s reported arrival imminent, and the likes of Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla expected to return from their respective injuries next month, as well as Mikel Arteta back in contention, will Wenger sign another midfielder?
