Arsenal are keeping tabs on Manchester United’s Jonny Evans
The Gunners are understood to be looking to add a centre-back this summer and according to the Sunday Mirror, Evans, 27, is on Arsene Wenger’s radar.
The Northern Ireland international is out-of-favour at Old Trafford but could find himself warming the bench at Arsenal rather than at United if a deal is agreed, with Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker the preferred defensive partnership at the Emirates.
But Evans can play anywhere along the back-line and his versatility could prove useful.
It seems Evans could be available for £10 million and West Brom are also interested in the centre-back, but have been put off by the player’s asking-price.
Would a £10 million for Evans be an astute one for Arsenal to make? Or should the Gunners steer clear of the Red Devils centre-back?
Although his Premier League experience and versatility would be useful, signing Evans would be a step in the wrong direction. We don’t want another United reject joining us and there are better options out there for Arsenal to explore.
I really hope we don’t waste £10 million on Evans!
