Roma forward ‘very pleased’ to be linked with Arsenal

Mattia Destro (Roma)Mattia Destro is ‘very pleased’ to have attracted the interest of Arsenal.

The Roma striker was continuously linked with a move to the Premier League over the summer but nothing came of it.

But it is believed that Arsenal will attempt to sign the Italy international as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options with Olivier Giroud still out injured.

And the 23-year-old, who is valued at around £20 million, is delighted to have alerted the attention of both Chelsea and Arsenal:

‘They are wonderful rumours, I’m very pleased because it means that I’ve taken the right path [in my career].

‘There are so many things that I can improve on. I must never stop and continue to learn new things.’

Destro finished off by saying:

‘The Coach encourages me a lot, and I try to show my skills on the pitch, as well as the confidence he has in me.’

But would a move for Destro be regarded as a good signing by Wenger?

Well considering the fact that we already have Danny Welbeck, Lukas Podolski and Alexis Sanchez who can play upfront, I don’t think a move for a forward is worth it this winter – not to mention, Giroud is close to returning sooner than expected.

Destro looks a decent forward but he has only managed to net four goals for Roma so far this season and, at £20 million, wouldn’t represent a good deal for Arsenal.
