Arsenal are keen to sign Barcelona youngster Sergi Samper with Arsene Wenger ready to meet the midfielder’s £9.6 million release clause when the January window opens.
Arsenal were previously interested in the 19-year-old defensive midfielder, and with the player struggling to make the breakthrough at Barcelona, it is believed that Wenger and co. are ready to make a fresh move in January, with reports in Spain, as suggested by Metro, claiming the Gunners are willing to meet the buy-out clause in January.
Samper has been likened to Cesc Fabregas because of his technical ability on the ball and passing range and Wenger will be hoping to repeat history by bringing the former to the Emirates.
Since his arrival to Arsenal, Wenger has managed to sign several Barcelona youngsters including Fabregas, Hector Bellerin and Jon Toral, and the Frenchman could use Bellerin and Toral to entice Samper to the Emirates.
Samper has made 42 appearances for Barcelona B in the past two seasons.
