Arsenal are lining up a shock bid for Atletico Madrid flop Joshua Guilavogui, according to reports.
Arsene Wenger is believed to be in the market for a defensive midfielder this summer and has supposedly turned his attention to the 23-year-old, who joined Atletico last summer from Ligue 1 side St. Etienne for £7.9 million.
However, since his move to the Vicente Calderon, Guilavogui has struggled to cement a regular role in Diego Simeone’s side and made just one appearance for the La Lig champions.
Wenger is reportedly willing to offer Ateltico £11.5 million for the Frenchman which Simeone would gladly accept.
Sami Khedira remains Wenger’s top midfield target but is struggling to negotiate personal terms with the German international.
If Arsenal do continue to pursue Guilavogui then they will face competition from Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg, who are also interested in the midfielder.
Although Guilavogui represents the cheaper option, I really do hope that Wenger manages to pull off this Khedira deal as I believe he would be the perfect midfield signing for us.

Cavalho is far better than any other defencive midfielder for now. We also need mario balotelli to give giroud a super run for is money.
