are reportedly monitoring the progress of Atletico Madrid youngster .

Tribalfootball.com claim the Gunners, along with Manchester City, are already ‘testing the ground, with the Spanish club said to be ‘wary’ of losing the 17-year-old before the summer transfer window shuts.

The midfielder playmaker took part and triumphed in the Under-19 Euros with Spain earlier this summer. His performances in this tournament supposedly attracted interest from the abovementioned Premier League sides.

However, a move away from the Estadio Vicente Calderon is not on Torres’ mind, not even a temporary one:

‘I would not accept a loan deal because that would be hard for me.

‘I have had a chance to leave before and I have not done so because my dream has always been to stay here and be a success with Atletico de Madrid.

‘Now I hope that one day Cholo (coach ) has confidence in me and I can show him that I am ready.

‘I am conscious that I am still only 17 and that I have to work hard in order to succeed.’

He went onto say:

‘After winning the European youth championship, Simeone came up to me and told me to introduce myself to the first-team. I did as he said, feeling like a child again.

‘If I have done something to catch his attention then the rest is now in my hands. I hope that, one day, I can get his trust and prove that I am ready for the step up.

‘I’ve had the opportunity to leave in the past, but stayed because all I want is to succeed at Atletico Madrid. The players I model myself on are Xavi and [Andres] Iniesta.’

Well it appears Simeone is highly keen to hang on to the youngster after adding him to the squad for their trip to LA.

I wouldn’t mind eventually signing this kid, as his movement (off and on the ball) and ball control are pretty good. He’s also a neat and tidy player and keeps things simple which is always a sign of a good player in my book.

But we need to acquire an experienced playmaker rather than a newbie this summer – someone like Alan Dzagoev would do the trick.
