Is this Belgian star the missing piece to Wenger’s puzzle?

Fulham forward Moussa Dembele arrived from Eredevise side AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2010 for a fee thought to be around £5 million.

The 25-year-old Belgian international has been a thorn in the side of a number of opposition teams in the Premier League and as a result has attracted interest from a number of English clubs

Arsenal are rumoured to be interested in Demebele, but is he the missing piece to Arsene Wenger’s puzzle? Personally, I don’t think so.

He is a very good player, who possesses creativity, pace, strength and an eye for goal.

But we will need more than one player to complete ‘Wenger’s puzzle.’

Dembele hasn’t exactly been what you would call ‘prolific’. He only managed to find the net twice last season, but, in all fairness, he was playing out of position.

Martin Jol prefers to play Dembele as an attacking midfielder rather than his more natural roles, out wide or upfront.

I wouldn’t mind us signing him to be honest. He looks like he could cope at Arsenal and give us more options in the final third.

But Wenger will need to acquire more than Dembele to finish off his ‘puzzle’, that’s for sure.

He is not top quality. Why buy someone who is possibly worse and certainly not any better than those we already have.

  • chris from Cambridge says:

No he isn’t. The missing piece would be a coach to drill the whole team on how to play when the oppos have possession. Also to introduce flexible or variable tactics according to oppos and/or match circumstance. And please do not expect Steve Bould to do so …. he will not be allowed.

what a great observation and advice! i give it 2 you bro. We miscue when the possession doesnt favour us! No tactics – always predictable. That is why the opposition defense line are always optimistic that even when there is a slight counter attack, we will never score but rather dilly dally for them to cover up. Until we learn from where we did fall, we will never rise to meet the tide that is spiraling upwards. So much to fight for yet, we relax too much – no aggressiveness, else stoke and the likes wont use use to gain points. Team approach is the MAJOR CHALLENGE of Arsenal!

would definitely improve Arsenal and excel at arsenal.

Not an improvement on what we already have. Would we drop Song, Arteta or Wilshere for him? No chance. Wouldn’t mind him as a squad player rather than Diaby, but the 10m he’s likely to cost would be better spent elsewhere on a player that’s going to improve us, such as M’Vila, who wouldn’t shirk his defensive duties in the same way Alex Song often does.

Actually he’d be the perfect fit esp if any injuries arises. Give him a season or two and he takes Arteta’s role…I really think he’s got that Arsenal class and can only improve. His touches, passing and control fairly good. He’s got that coolness about being in that role but more likely offensively. Besides the fact that he only scored 2 goals and not sure how many assist but guess it’s about 7 if i remember correctly, he can be one of the signings of the season. At least he’s got a good feel for goal outside the box that some of our players don’t have. I like this player and wish that we sign him and fast..we’ll regret it….surely we will. Another thing is, he’ll have some of his Belgium playmates to help him adjust in our team. Win Win situation…unfortunately I will settle on no real good signings after all this is Arsenal and leave it up to the Board and Wenger to do their thing but for how long, before we end up with a cup.

how good was valencia a scorer @ wigan b4 old fergie snapped him, dembele will benefit from other skillfull player we have in arsenal i mean beta than the ones in fulham, he’s got tallent.

  • Lutongooner says:

The best player outside of the league’s elite clubs.

  • Keme says:

Dembele is far better dan alot of players in Arsenal.. If d likes of Ramsey can be playing in Arsenal why will anyone say Dembele is not good enof to be in d Arsenal team? Wenger should sign him cos he is one of d best players in d EPL especially wen u consider d team he plays for. Just imagine him playing in a top four team.

  • George Mbugua says:

I like two words here ‘Prolific’ and ‘Belgium’ only one guy can answer this….Fellaini. Sgn him up n make a complete team. Thz is a guy who cn play 120 min strngly n fresh. He’s calm n fully focussed jst ask Man utd wen thy last met Everton or England friendly wid Belgium he’s our immediete need . Then Wenger to sign Vertonghen and Yann M’villa this wil be another invisibles. And we release all the fringe players.
