It is understood that Arsenal would have been making a move to sign German midfielder Marko Marin in January, but the Gunners have been told to wait until the end of the season as Werder Bremen don’t want to sell their prized asset during the winter window.

Marin’s agent, Fali Ramadani, has indicated that his client may consider his position in the summer as talks have yet to begin on extending his contract which expires in June 2013.

He told the Metro:

‘For the moment there is nothing concrete and the player thinks only of Werder, Have we talked about a renewal? Not yet. Anyway, he will remain with Bremen until the end of the season.’

Should Arsenal decide to go for the 22-year-old winger, who is likened to Lionel Messi in Germany, then they will undoubtedly face stiff competition from Roma, Tottenham as well as Liverpool who have all expressed an interest in signing Marin.

It is worth noting that there is currently no talks going on between Werder Bremen and the German international, who has been with the Bundesliga side since 2009 – bagging 11 goals and 24 assists in 97 appearances.

Ummm why did we wait this long to realize we need some1 like him when it was obvious that Arshavin just wasnt gnna cut it. I still would love a prem defender and Hazard to come ASP; but knowing Arsenal we will find a way to cock up any transfer of note with our stingy and unprofessional behavior. Like undervaluing a club’s player and saying he isn’t worth that much it pisses them off and also trying to buy club’s best players at the last minute of the window when they wont be able to replace them in time.
