Yann M’Vila, Gary Cahill and a new look Arsenal

According to The Guardian, we’re getting close to tying up a deal to bring Yann M’Vila to the Emirates.

It’s hardly the signing the fans have been clamouring for.

M’Vila plays in the defensive midfield role and to be fair we’ve already got the poets favourite duo; Alex Song Billong and Emmanuel Frimpong, in that position. It would seem like we’ve got that part of the field covered when you consider that last season Jack Wilshere played most of his games behind the attacking midfielder and alongside Song.

If the reports are true then perhaps Arsene Wenger is planning on shifting Wilshere into a more advanced role, and he intends on playing M’Vila next to Song. This would make for an incredibly combative midfield and it might just be a managerial masterstroke from the Frenchman.

The other player we’ve been strongly linked with in the last couple of days is Gary Cahill of Bolton. Whilst my preference would be to sign Phil Jagielka, I still think that this would be an excellent signing for Arsenal.

It would seem that by making a reported low opening bid we have mortally offended the Bolton chairman, Phil Gartside, as well as their manager, Owen Coyle. This might prevent the deal going through, though I doubt it will if we eventually stump up the cash they’re asking for.

Let’s hope they do it. Either that or go back to Everton for Jagielka. I don’t mind. I don’t think anyone else does either. Just buy someone.

With Schezzers having restored our faith in the goalkeeping department, with either Jagielka or Cahill in defence, as well as with the potential signing of M’Vila; Arsenal might be about to, in one fell swoop, toughen up a team that has long been criticised for being too lightweight.

Whether these specific transfers happen or not, it seems that Wenger has learnt his lesson and is keen on making the team a much more robust outfit for this season and beyond.

Let’s hope that he lands his top targets and then we can look forward to the season ahead without fear or trepidation.

Alot of people are saying we don’t need M’Vila because we have Song and Frimpong but I’ll tell you why we do need him. Frimpong is inexperienced, M’Vila is young but he has far more league games under his belt as well now being the first choice DM for France. M’Vila is more disciplined than Song. Song picks and chooses when he goes forward and while that can have benefits, it has also cost us at times leaving the back four exposed. M’Vila will sit for 90 minutes in his half and win the ball if he has to, he doesn’t have the same forward tendencies.

Additionally, the DM position is subject to alot of fouls and cards as we’ve seen from Frimpong and Song being both suspended already. We need the depth and we need quality in that depth.

This is what he should have done before the season started! He’s now left it 3 matches too late as we’ll be doing catch up on other top 4 teams!
Stupid stubburness has a price you know!
What happens now to Chamakh, Arshavin, Bendtner and a few more we do not need anymore here?

I will bet Arsenal will lose to Man Utd. And this season will be one of the worst starts for these years. And the next few years to come, no trophies with the current board and Manager not listening to the fans and not willing to pay for the right players. Its downhill.

We have a very stubborn manager in Arsene, why rush the last time moment while the problems have been looming all along?Arsene should bring atleast four players in,ie Hazard,M’villa, cahill and a striker. He has money
