Arsene Wenger confirmed the signing of Gervinho last Thursday, and with Gael already having hopped off to pay packets new, who and where do we need to improve before August 13th?
With potentially £50 million plus coming from the sale of all of the above and Samir Nasri to the Eastland’s, we have deep pockets to finance the start of Wenger’s fourth squad rebuild.
So welcome to my thoughts, assuming we stay at 4-3-3:
Goalkeepers – Wojciech Szczesny, Lukasz Fabianski, Vito Mannone
Wojciech needs the job to prove his undoubted worth. Flappy and Mann are adequate cover.

Right-back – Bacary Sagna, Emmanuel Eboue,
Bac is one of the best right-backs in the world, and despite his moments (Liverpool!!!), Eboue does a decent job when needed.

Left-back – Kieran Gibbs, Armand Traore
Arsene believes Kieran deserves his chance, and yes the last two times the understudy has stepped up, but worrying injuries and rushes of blood to the head do leave you wondering this time. Armand wants to go so bye bye.
Verdict – spend. We need a replacement for Clichy, give Gibbs time to grow into the role.
Rumours – Leighton Baines and Aly Cissokho
Likely signing – no one, Gibbs has been entrusted.
Centre-back – Thomas Vermalean, Laurent Koscielny, Johan Djourou, Sebastien Squillaci, Carl Jenkinson
TV5 was a rock at the back until injury deprived us of his resilience last season. Djojo and Kos showed their worth as cover, Schilli showed he was a panic buy not worth the minimal fee we paid and Jenkinson is one for the future.
Verdict – spend & sell. Schilli goes to any bidder; we buy an imposing CB to help out Tommy.
Rumours – Gary Cahill, Chris Samba, Per Mertesacker to name but a few.
Cannot even be bothered to click on page 2, you have put Jenkinson as a Centre Back and claimed that Traore wants to leave, where is the foundation for this rumour? Apart from Vermaelen, Traore is our most experienced LB with over 70 top flight appearances for Portsmouth Juventus and Arsenal. He has played far more matches than Ashley Cole had at this age and looks better than Cole did at this stage of his career. Gibbs is already an England International, for Crying out loud what has a 21 year old got to do to get people on side. In addition to these 2 we have Belgium’s 1st choibe left back and another 21 year old Botelho who has already played over 120 matches and will be available next season.
I stand corrected on Jenkison but this only increases huge need for another CB, as for Gibbs, if you read the piece, he us worthy of the role just personally feel needs a season free of injury and that extra experience to step up.
As for playing TV5 at left back? Our best CB, massive waste.
