Former Arsenal centre-back Martin Keown believes that the Gunners will end their trophy drought next season if Arsene Wenger acquires the right players this summer, and insists changes are inevitable, according to The Independent.
Wenger’s men have now gone six years without capturing silverware after their season fell to pieces in the space of 2 weeks following their Carling Cup final defeat to Birmingham City in late February. Yet despite another trophyless year, the North London club still managed to secure a Champions League spot for next season’s campaign.
However, Martin Keown, who won seven major honours during his time at Arsenal, believes a shake up is foreseeable if the club wish to bring back the glory days. The former England international recently told Footballaudio.com:
‘You have to feel there will be changes.’
‘I think Arsene Wenger has almost over-estimated what they are capable of and they have let him down, so it is a shared responsibility when the team does not do well and collective praise when they do.’
‘I am sure everyone will look at themselves, and that they will bounce back.’
‘Arsenal are not far away, it is not all doom and gloom. With the right collection of players with experience and strength of leadership, then I think Arsenal can win something next season.’
I totally agree with Keown on this one. Arsenal are not far off from breaking their trophy drought, they just need to alter a few things – these mainly being tactics, personnel, and most importantly, install the winning mentality which seems to have faded away from their game.
I’m not the only one who thinks this though. Many Arsenal fans and pundits alike believe a change is necessary at the club, especially after enduring yet another disappointing season. Of course, whether Arsene Wenger implements these changes remains to be seen.

Yes, you right if Arsene Wenger acquires the right players this summer and let them go:
1.CESC.FABREGAS
2.N.Bendtner
3.M.Almunia
4.Sebastien .s
5.Denilson
6.Abou Diaby
7.ROSISKY
And at last Arsene Wenger
THE ONLY CHANGE REQUIRED AT ARSENAL IS WENGER AND EVERYTHING WILL SNAP BACK INTO PLACE. BRING IN A MANAGER WHO CAN BUILD THE TEAM FROM THE BACK.
‘doom and gloom’ was a term invented by the apologists who can’t see straight and try in vain to discredit supporters who know better.
Is Keown saying something that supporters with half a brain haven’t known for five years?!
I agree with Keown, I think we can win something next year, but Wenger needs to bring in the right players and get rid of some of the rubbish players. We need a solid centre back, possibly a left back to replace Clichy, a defensive midfielder, a creative midfielder if Fabregas leaves and a striker to help Van Persie score the goals.
Players in:
Either Cahill, Samba or Mertasacker
Baines as a replacement for Clichy
Diarra
Hazard
Bojan or Benzema
Players out:
Bendtner
Squillaci
Denilson
Diaby
Alumnia
Clichy
yeah we shall win something next season only if AW want us to…!
I want Cesc, Almunia, Diaby, denilson, clichy out! Cesc heart is no longer with us!
Let Cesc GO?? Our captian wants to stay but only if Wenger proves to him that he wants to win somthing by buying class and experience.

Flapianski(I know he came good this season but he will never win back most gunners’ hearts coz ov FC-PORTO clanger)
Seb. Squichi
Kyle Bartley
and CESC but only if he wants to go…
IN
Bojan
Hummels/Subotic
Phil Jones
Neuer/Akinfeev/Lloris
Pato/Aguero/Zarate
Aly Cissokho
Scott Parker
Banega/Xavi(I hear Barca are selling)/David Silva/Mata
